Big 12 additional expansion

Conferences can't contact other schools. The other schools need to initate the contact. I must think highly of CSU if they were talked to twice.

Also, more expansion threads.....

Another expansion thread. Check it out.

Oh look - ANOTHER THREAD...

Actually, it's a good question really and one that I had not heard an answer to it...extra expansion meaning potentially Some original Big 12 teams could leave it...depending on the G o R timing.

It probably is more than just rumor, if we are to listen to the interview with Jamie Pollard recently. In the interview Pollard hints it may not be done as new tv deals are negotiated.

Pollard also stated he kept quiet in the process because he pledged that and then interestingly said, somebody broke their promise because Pete Thamel has been really accurate with his reporting. What is Thamel reporting? More B12 expansion and more flexibility of scheduling(probably a factor in getting paid better than the league thought).

Some things to keep in mind about whether the B12 looks at 2 or 4 additions. When we don't have two bluebloods at the top that are worth exponentially more than others, we don't lose near as much in each additional school. In this situation maybe the additional inventory and the flexibility to provide games when networks want the games may add to the contract. It is possible there is future movement. ISU fans would love for that to be for them to go to the B1G which is one option, but another option is the either the ACC backfills with the B12 or vice versa due to the ACC imploding due to 6-8 brands wanting B1G or SEC money. I don't know how the GOR's is dealt with but when its possibly as much as 600M over 15 years schools are going to look at options.

Good news is the B12 will get more revenues than we thought, bad news is its going to be a lot less than SEC/B1G maybe 50-60% of their revenues.

If Thamel is right the B12 is looking at 14 or 16, I don't think its out of the question we are seeing somewhere between 72-80 schools break away from the other schools to form its own division for football, not sure how bball will work.

One way to get the values up for the B12 and other leagues is to stop the FCS scheduling and most of the schools not in the AAC or MWC going forward. If all the games are the schools in the 72-80 schools that break away the games are much better. Actually, fans deserve better than some of those crap games.

This could happen whether there is 4 or 5 leagues, it just involves moving teams around.

yep they are going with the decentralizaton plan clearly, they will gobble up every time they can at this point i would say, then you tier the payouts and do a closed loop market for NIL

MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY.............
It is all about the Benjamins. Future conference size will be determined by the willingness of ESPN/ABC and the other broadcasters to pay bigger and bigger bucks as conferences grow. Will they pay the same$/team to the SEC after UT/OK addition (as they currently have lower tv contracts). Will they pay the B1G the same$/team if they expand further by absorbing teams that currently have lower tv contracts. Or, B12 going ahead at 12 rather than 10 absorbing teams with much lower tv contracts. As cord cutting goes on, I would think that the overall dollars will shrink.

A BLASPHEMOUS THOUGHT OR TWO:

This is why I do not think that super conferences of 16-24 will ever happen. In fact, it is possible that TV networks may force the larger conferences to split, with the smaller revenue generating (less popular) schools in one lower paid conference and the higher revenue generating (more popular) schools in another higher paid conference.

Go CLONES
Go CHIEFS

I heard an even crazier suggestion on youtube. The guy said the BIG XII will go to 16 and try to poach USC, Washington, Oregon & Arizona. Or go to 18 with ASU & UCLA. He thinks the new PAC 12 media deal will be low.

The only way that could happen without a huge lawsuit is for the BIG XII to get a hard number from Espn on what the new deal would be with those teams and then publish it. "Not for nothing, but Espn has told us we would get $50 million per team if these four enter... but we're not planning on approaching them. Legally, were going to wait and see if any teams want to join."

I always like looking at the internet. It assures me that I'm not the craziest person in the world. :)

Maharishi School in the Age of Enlightenment would be perfect expansion candidate.... for the SEC. Carpet rides at no charge.
