***Big 10 Thread***

So you think that I believe that to be Gard's primary goal, to maintain a level that will get him into the NIT about half the years. He's likely to easily pass that benchmark. But I agree he will ultimately fall short and will not be a borderline final four program often. Explain to me how that make staying ahead of a really crappy program mutually exclusive.

You kept bringing up Iowa for some reason in a post that was discussing Wisconsin. Extremely odd at best.

As someone else already stated, Nebby only has 3 wins against top 100 teams, all at home. They have played six Quad 1 games and are 0-6 in those games. They are 3-2 in Quad 2 games with one left (PSU at home). I can't see them getting in with only one win against tourney level teams. Beat PSU and win two in NYC . . . maybe as their second win in NYC would be an upset of a higher seed.

This season wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the hole Lickliter put them in
Not sure Francis has gotten the Hoks out of the hole. Lickliter was 4-14 in the B1G the year he was fired. Fran is at 3-12 right now. 4-14 is the worst B1G record the Hoks have had since the B1G went to 18 games (1974-1975). Francis has a chance to make Barta look really smart.

At this point Frany is doing worse then Lick Woof

I was just defending my other school.

I will admit that I thought that the post I was referring to was inferring hope for you hawks since you are like cockroaches all over this thread.

But still to Defended my second university. As the hawks have proven they are pretty consistently the cream of the dog **** of the Big 10 and generally sit right on the line between the garbage teams of the BIG and the ones that are doing just enough, that's a good low water mark.

If Gard can keep them a couple of steps above that line they will make Post season some years, and the even the big boy tourney every now and then. I'm hoping that this year is not the norm as it seems to be for some of the other teams in the slum of the BIG 10.

The only real discussion that is relevant to this years Iowa bball team is how f'n good was Peter Jok? I thought he was a pretty good player but his ability to prop up this same team up to get to post season play makes me think I was wrong, apparently he was a freakin stud.

He was exactly what Iowa needed/needs. Decent shooter, ball handler, could create his own shot, could penetrate and finish. Iowa sorta looks a little like ISU after Kane graduated. Still had some nice players, but there was no one to make other defenders switch and cover for the penetrators. ISU wasn't as bad as Iowa is now, but generally it is the same situation.

After Kane left ISU only lost 8 games all regular season.

They were an odd team that seemed to have chemistry issues but comparing them to Iowa post-Jok...not so much.
