***Big 10 Thread***

I hope so....

It'd be awesome if that #1 seed was Duke....I'd really enjoy that.

A coworker pointed out to me last year how 'ugly' Duke got when it was clear they were going to lose to South Carolina. Interesting take but kinda true--Coach K's face turned for the worst, players started griping about calls when they'd do things like literally fall onto a SC player with the ball.

I wish Kentucky were better so they could be in that seat as well. Loved Calipari's perfect platoon team getting beat by a bunch of 'system' guys 3 years ago.

I heard from the dad of a Badger player that his son thinks Ethan Happ will transfer. Didn't Wisky also have a 4-star recruit de-commit? So there's another Big10 team that will continue to suck.

Yeah but will they continue to fran level Suck Their coach is still in a transition phase. Its put up or shut up time for his team, and if guys aren't buying in then its time to flip the switch and move to all his scheme, but I thought he should have done that this year. Worked for UW and would like to see them get respectable again, but not enough that I wouldn't love to see us stealing all the wisc. recruits

Anyway, I don't think guard is great, but he isn't terrible and meshing regimes can change in a hurry. He is a cut above Mad fran if you ask me,

I do wish that they would break the bank and answer the Bennett question once and for all. It just doesn't seem to be something that they're willing to do right now. Maybe it really is a no go from the Bennett side, but I think we'll see if and when it comes to a bad split with guard.

Barry's hands were kind of tied with Bo quitting midseason as he hasnt really had the opportunity to go after Bennett.

Bo quit on 12/16/2015 and the Badgers were 7-5.

All Gard did from that point was go 40-17 over the next season and a half and make two Sweet 16's.

So you agree that he's probably not going to Hawkeye level suck in the long term? He's also shown he can beat tourney quality teams this year with transitioning talents. He's beaten 3 possible tourney teams this year.

Hawks haven't beaten anyone even sniffing the tourney. The only NIT team they have beaten may be Colorado. Yikes, abandon ship man. First I looked at just how terrible the teams that lost to IOwa this year were. I didn't see to many that were above 200 in the RPI, and only 1 win for the hawks against teams safely inside the top 150. Bright future indeed.

You, apparently, have a tough time staying on topic.

Gard also got demolished by Iowa this year and lost last year to them in the Kohl Center so not sure what the hell your point is.

Penn St and Nebraska pass the eye test, but that may be because of the Big 10 being down.

I disagree, Neither really passes the eye test. PSU barely deserves the NIT. Have they beaten a tourney quality team besides OSU? They've looked good playing nobody. I say that they have a play in game for the NIT with NEB and tOSU.

NEBBY's best road win is against a wisc. team with an RPI in the 140's that won't even make the CBI. Hard Pass.

Point - That guard has a lot more promise than Iowa (FRAN) right now. Overall trends are looking a lot better for bucky. Its going to be about being consistent. Guard has a much higher ceiling at this point. He is mixing Bo's players with his. which leads to fluke losses to crap teams like the Hawks. Also, leads to decent wins against real competition when the learning curve of blending talent comes together for a game. He may have a hard time getting over the hump, but at least there is a hump to get over.

Frans looking like he is going to take a half gainer and do is best to take the Hawk program with him. It may be just a matter of how far that pile driver will go.

perfectly on topic. Guard is a much better coach following a legend. The coaching talent isn't his obstruction, getting past the shadow of Bo is. I don't think Bucky will be slumming it at Iowa's level for long.

First, it is Gard.

Second, pretty much all of Wisky's historical success in basketball can be attributed to one person....Bo Ryan. The task of maintaining a similar level of success is going to be really hard for anyone not named Tony Bennett.

I don't disagree, but fortunately he doesn't have to be close to that level to outcoach IOWA for the the next . . . say . . 10 years. That's all I'm saying. He has much better recruiting grounds, and game coaching. Rough year, but I'm optimistic he can transition, and if not, the bar isn't real high for the next guy either.

Daily reminder that the best guard Fran has ever coached was 3rd team all conference as a senior. Carry on

Youre just upset you got caught moving the goalposts in another thread.

You have to be on a good team to get first team all conference - Craig Brackins

Graham is shooting under 40% from the field but it will probably come down to if KU shares the league title or not

Comparing KU and their possible streak being broken to any other scenario is stupid. You said Gatens got 3rd team because his team didn't make the tourney but then Marble got first team as a senior when his team didn't make the tourney either. As the infamous MVC says....derp

Unlike you and most ISU fans, I dont think that is Gard's primary goal.

So you think that I believe that to be Gard's primary goal, to maintain a level that will get him into the NIT about half the years. He's likely to easily pass that benchmark. But I agree he will ultimately fall short and will not be a borderline final four program often. Explain to me how that make staying ahead of a really crappy program mutually exclusive.
