***Big 10 Thread***

Are you trying to compare a Saturday basketball game with a football one? No comparison in my mind. Football is an even with the tailgating and all. Bball is literally a two hour game.
Wha? I just asked if there was the same amount of weekend games for basketball and football.

Buddy, isn't Barta actually reducing the number of seats at Kinnick with the North End Zone Project. Heard it was between 2 and 3 thousand. Even with that reduction, Iowa wouldn't have had any sellouts in FB last year. Barta might want to consider the same move with Carver...
Is little bro copying us again?

So Penn State doubling Cael's salary means JP ran him off? That's a hell of a reach.

He is worth it though. I thought Pollard was a great fund raiser? If so, he should have been able to keep maybe the greatest wrestling coach of all time after Gable. I would have been furious if Iowa wasn't able to keep him.

JP is an accountant, he probably knows more about if doubling Cael's salary was good for the dept than you.
And Cael, at that point wasn't what he is now. The PA/NJ area for recruits was an untapped potential gold mine for him.
You are really, really trying too hard.

Pretty sure it wasn't just doubling his salary, but also massive upgrades to facilities, which weren't really much of an option at the time for ISU. We were trying to fund football upgrades that we needed much more at the time. It still sucks that Cael left, but that's almost 100% on him.

You say this as if Iowa State wasn't upset about losing Cael. Which just isn't correct.

Well, and TBH, do AD's make money off wrestling? Maybe Iowa, Okie State, Minny, PSU, can make some but I can't imagine its much if anything.

Only elite wrestling schools. Thanks Barta!
Yeah, no one here is arguing that Iowa is an elite wrestling school. Did Barta hire Brands? If anything, Iowa has slipped a bit in the last 5 years. Still extremely good but not at the levels of Brands first few years.

He did hire Brands and that was a great move. Iowa's slippage is mostly because of how good PSU has become and now OSU. Those are recruiting hotbeds and sleeping giants that have been awoken. Thanks Pollard for waking up PSU and letting them have the next Gable.
