***Big 10 Thread***

What do you disagree with @rholtgraves ?
You wouldn't swap Snyder for Ferentz at half the pay and better everything else?

Don't agree that the attempt to debate it is dumb.
All I said was there wasn't that big of difference. Snyder has the edge and has had some amazing years and a couple more great ones than Ferentz but overall Ferentz is just a little bit behind. They will both end up being Hall of Fame coaches. And as for comparing who would do what at which school if they switched.... who the f knows. That is just pure conjecture.
I would also argue against your contention that Iowa has some special history that gives it a leg up on a school like KState. Fry had some success but they don't have blueblood history that will automatically give an advantage to any coach. Neither school has advantages in recruiting and both have another state school. Pretty similar. Also, I think with the right coach (maybe Campbell is that guy) that ISU can have similar success to what Ferentz has had at Iowa. I think the odds of Iowa continuing to have relative success after Kirk are pretty low which will also help ISU in getting some more of the instate talent.

If you're saying Kirk is behind Snyder, then the debate is dumb, because you are just admitting it too.
And I'm not saying Iowa has blue blood history. I'm saying look at what Snyder had to work with, and what Ferentz had. K-State was the least set up for success power 5 job in the country.

I do agree with you on saying Iowa will become mediocre after Kirk but that's not too far away from what you're getting right now anyway.

1: I think we are defining 'the debate' as different things. It seems as though you think I said that Snyder and Ferentz were equal in terms of results. I never said that. I said Ferentz wasn't that far off. You could also argue that in other areas, Ferentz is better than Snyder- graduating players (probably because he doesn't rely on JUCOs) and getting players to the NFL.
2. I agree, Snyder had probably less to work with in terms of facilities etc.
3: I didn't say they would become mediocre. Odds are they will be bad and then enter the revolving coaching door that most schools do until they find the right coach again.

Lol Leave it to an Iowa fan to bring up success in the NFL and graduating players to try to compare Kirk and Snyder since Snyder has much more success on the field

I hope for your sake that LSU becomes a top tier program.

The one thing that makes me second guess if Wade will do a good job there is that he continued to recruit and get a commit from Emmitt Williams after he was charged with rape and false imprisonment. I wouldn't touch that kid with a 100 foot pole.

That means since Freddy and Horny are coaches in the league, ISU's basically the premier basketball school.

This is how this works right?

Iowa's averaged a top-10 finish every 3-4 years since 2000. So yeah not every year, but pretty close. Not OSU/Bama type blueblood, but pretty close.
I know Gonzo isn't this dense and it is some good trolling, but still worthy of a response.

Seasons ranked in final AP poll in the 2010s:
OSU: 8
Alabama: 8
Iowa: 1
ISU: 0

Nippin' at the blue bloods heels indeed.

Most recruits' memories of UI football include a whole bunch of irrelevance.

Yes he would, we're not poor little Iowa that gives out lifetime contracts for mediocrity
Didn't yo

Hmm....wonder why you cut that off at 2010

ISU has been the premier basketball school in the state since probably the beginning of the 2000s. Iowa is historically still better though.

So to sum this up Iowa will never be a top 10 program in basketball or football no matter who the coach is? Lol

Iowa has been a top 10 program 5 times during the Ferentz era....thought that was common knowledge.

Isn't there a difference between having a top 10 season and a top 10 program? I had an Iowa fan tell me Saban couldn't even get Iowa to be a top 10 program.
