They really were. I went round and round with many of them at the time. I couldn't believe the hypocrisy. They were also big-time Steve Alford apologists until he decided to leave town. He is one scummy human-being.

Wow is anyone seeing the timeline on this. Fran loses to Louisiana on Nov 20th, South Dakota State on Nov 21st and then gets blown out by Virginia Tech on Nov 28th and signs a contract extension Nov 29th with a 10 million dollar buyout? Lol!

You can somehow see how and why KF gets such a big contract, but this one here is a real head scratcher. Absolutely no reason to give such a large buyout and the fact they never announced it too. Barta has got to go.
I'm guessing this was the basis of the negotiations:

A lot of programs would kill to win 7 games a year on average with the occasional contender for a conference championship and BCS level bowl. To date KF has done a good job at Iowa.
A lot of schools would love those stats but they'd expect more with how much they spend.
