We have a Kirby. Heavy duty, has tons of suction and is terrific at vacuuming up everything. Through 4 kids, a rabbit, 4 cats, 2 German Shephards and now a Newfoundland, we'd tried other cheaper options including Dyson, Shark and Bissell but nothing cleans as well as the Kirby. It's heavy as hell though so dealing with stairs is a PITA. We did get the carpet shampooing attachment which is also really good. We have used their lifetime warranty once, and in addition to fixing what was wrong they refreshed the whole unit at no cost.
