Best Sandwhich Spots in DSM

South Union for me.

Back in my Skywalk days I'd get a sandwich and the salad bar at Something Italian, but I heard it closed.

Go to B & B Grocery. They might take you in the back and do a shot with you.

Haha, this happened to me the first time I went in to get a chuck roast. A little Ten High bourbon in a plastic shot cup back in the meat cooler. Hilarious.

La Mie sandwiches are pretty good. I work downtown and go to La Mie Elevate, which is ok the skywalk in Ruan 2, regularly, all their stuff is good. Same with their shop on 42nd, and if you can get a turkey club on ciabatta, well you won't regret it.

I really like their breakfast.

Most of these have been mentioned, but my top (A-Z)
1.) B&B
2) LaMie
3.)Manhattan Deli
4.) Taste of Italy (Italian Beef, Italian Cold Sub... -- the rest are great too)

Depending on the side of town, that is where I go. Living in Pleasant Hill, I am looking for something good on the east side, but then I see Latin King... and then I want pasta.

(I have heard good things about Lachele's, but I have not been there)

Not to derail the thread, but any suggestions for the CR area…. we don’t have s**t over here! But maybe I’m just not looking hard enough?

Another vote for B&B. One I haven't seen mentioned yet is Maccabees. On Polk Blvd just south of University. Delish Jewish deli!!

I'm going to drop a gem on all of you. Mekong Sandwich. It's a lady who sells Bahn Mi's out of the front of her house at 3308 2nd Ave, Des Moines. It's a legit business, she just operates out of her house. $4/per, so incredibly fresh.
