what do the rest of you grease jockeys use? we have been using lava bar soap simply because it is cheap but i would like to get something better for a still reasonable price. i thought gojo worked pretty well, but it is fairly expensive for what you get in terms of longevity. i may just bite the bullet and get it anyway.

suggestions?

I've heard of using a teaspoon of sugar and clean them like you normally do, but I've never tried it and it seems stupid. Sorry for no actual advice, I usually use what you do (lava soap).

I use Gojo, but I'm not a grease monkey. Side benefit: makes a great laundry pre-treater for oily stains. I just squirt some on the stain and throw it in the hamper, wash with rest of the clothes. Haven't had a greasy stain yet that it didn't get out.....I feel like I should be wearing an apron for saying that, but I'll leave it.

*Edit: Fast orange...that's it...not gojo...ou812's post made me remember.

I keep a gallon jug of fast orange with a hand pump in my garage at all times. I typically start with that, then follow up with a brush and regular dishwashing soap. Typically works well, although I know Goop works well too...just dislike the nasty petroleum smell of that stuff....

Soak it in cider. ( am I going to get banned now?)

K-Gard is awesome, but it's pricey. Cuts grease well and has moisturizer in it so it doesn't tear up your hands quite as badly as Gojo or Fast Orange. It's what we used when I worked at a Coop for a year and a half during college.

Now I just use Dawn dish soap. Works well and doesn't cost much.

I grew up on a dairy farm and we always used dawn dish soap for cleaning up when we went in the house. Worked great

Fast Orange
Dish Soap
Parts Cleaner (if they are really bad)followed by soap.

One or all of these with a stuff brush will take care of just about anything.

interesting. dude i work with gets cracked skin in a terrible way in the winter (I don't). hadn't thought about lotion with cleaner before. makes a ton of sense, at least during dry season(s).
