Best guesses for bowl destinations for ISU this year?

Nice! That would be a 1977 Peach Bowl reunion
New Year's Eve, after the game at Fulton County Stadium, we were back to our hotel, the Peachtree Plaza.

A 70's fueled bash. NC St won the game, but we won the party.

Guess the fuel.

Checking prices for Orlando. Ouch.

BTW, thanks for the OU game tailgate invite. We were so lost that we kind of just meandered around once we parked in the BB lot. We ended up with a Vacation wallyworld parking of parking WAY in the back with no idea of where we were.

Should be a few more flights popping up I would think. Check Cedar Rapids. They route through OHare and sometimes they are the cheapest to head SE.

Direct from Sugar Bowl website:

"The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the champions of the Big 12 Conference and the SEC unless either or both of those champions are selected for the College Football Playoff. If either of the champions do qualify for the playoff, another highly-ranked representative from the conference(s) will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. In the case of the SEC, the replacement team would be the top-ranked non-playoff team. In the case of the Big 12, the replacement team would be the next non-playoff team with the best record in the regular-season standings. The 2022 Sugar Bowl match-up will be announced on Sunday, December 5 on ESPN."

So that doesn't clarify things, either. Baylor and OU each went 10-2, 7-2 in the regular season.

I think the Baylor head to head win would come into play there if that's the case.

If you rank the alleged payouts for each ACC tie-in game, and the team records, you'd get something like:
Holiday - loser of Pitt/Wake
Cheez-It - Clemson or NC State
Gator - Clemson or NC State

Clemson hasn't been to the Orlando game since 2014; N.C. State hasn't since 2010.

Something I didn’t realize: the last time we went to the Cheez-It (Camping World), it was explicitly the ACC’s top non-NY6 game. It was the ACC’s Alamo Bowl.

Based on this, that no longer appears to be the case: https://theacc.com/sports/2021/5/26/FB_0526214545.aspx

Most conferences (not the Big 12 though) are moving toward a model where the conference is involved in slotting teams into bowls, rather than a pecking order where the bowls get to draft. So it makes projections more difficult.

It may be relevant then that NC State hasn’t been to Orlando for longer than Clemson. ISU-NCSU would be a good game against very similar universities.

unless something has changed (I don’t think so), the Big 12/Sugar rule interpretation is that the loser of the CCG gets the Sugar if the winner makes the CFP. Thankfully the B1G does not have a similar rule meaning Iowa only makes the Rose Bowl by beating Michigan this weekend - otherwise Ohio State is basically a lock for the Rose.

I was looking at those. Plus a $60 checked bag fee. Shouldn't need one but I hate having to bring a carryon bag. Plus with everyone else carrying on and a complete lack of enforcement of the rules if you get stuck boarding near the end there isn't any carryon storage left.
The planes were not designed for everyone to bring their luggage on board.

The podcast indicated the athletic department is likely not thrilled about a Texas Bowl possibility. They mentioned they're unsure if they can say "no thanks" to the Texas Bowl but the athletic department doesn't want that date. Likely would be poorly attended and reflect negatively toward future bowl opportunities. If Orlando passes on Iowa State and ISU declines the invite for Texas Bowl, then Liberty is in play.
