Best Eats in Memphis (so far)

For burgers, try Off The Hoof:

If it's a burger you crave, and you ain't afraid to drive 30 mins, try Memphis' 1st burger joint to receive 5 stars by the BestMemphisBurger™ (http://www.bestmemphisburger.com/2013/03/06/off-the-hoof-burgers-the-first-5-star-burger/), top 30 nationally by Eater (https://www.eater.com/maps/the-38-essential-burgers-across-the-country/off-the-hoof-burgers).

Off the Hoof Burgers has a burger lovers menu straight from heaven with something for everyone. They feature a regular seasoned patty available in 4, 6, 8, 12, and 16 ounce sizes. There’s a Salmon Burger, an Elk burger, an Ostrich burger, a Turkey Burger, a Buffalo burger, a Country Fried burger, a Bologna burger, a Kobe beef burger and a Black Angus burger. Additionally, there are several specialty burgers including Off the Hoof’s own version of a stuffed Jucy Lucy, with cheese melted between two 4 ounce patties. They also offer big burgers weighing in anywhere from one to four pounds and everything in between.

Off the Hoof gets great reviews and the owner is a good guy. It is a bit out of town, but it is worth the drive!

My recommendation is to not be obsessed with BBQ. Yes, they have good BBQ in Memphis but no better than the top places in KC. Places like Rendevous will have hour long waits with 100% cyclone fans. The food that I remember was the breakfast at Brother Junipers, the Chicken and Waffles at Miss Polly's, etc.

Also, have one Yuengling and then say to yourself "why does everyone like this crap beer?".

Great Burgers. I love the Hot Tops. (batter fried jalapenos. And the owner is a super nice.guy.

I haven't seen anyone mention One and Only bbq. I am a K.C. transplant and It really is my favorite here.(Corner of Perkins Ext. and Southern.would be the closest one to those of you staying East and Downtown.)
