What experiences has people had when purchased wireless services over the phone, online, or walk in?

In the past I've gotten offers when talking to a rep on the phone that the walk-in says they cannot offer and visa versa.

The company will be Verizon. Have had cell phones with them since 1994 and currently have the unlimited data so wanting to be very cautious about making changes.

Never buy in Verizon store. Best Buy usually has best offers. Otherwise, vzw.com is the best deals purchasing directly through Verizon.

I always go to Best Buy. Going to a Verizon Store is about as painful as going to The Buckle.

If you go to the Verizon on Duff, I believe you are in purgatory. Not all inside the store but adding in the combo of trying to drive out of it is infuriating.

I would recommend Amazon. They usually have great deals.

I was upgrading at Verizon a few weeks ago. Logged to my account and they had a Galaxy S5 for $99 or $165 with a bundle of accessories (otter, glass protector, car charger etc). Went back to purchase and it was now $199 and $265 more. Tried calling and got an endless maze of reroutes. Interesting that it's really really hard to call a phone company on a phone.

Gave up and went to the V store. Got the price I had seen easier. Won't recommend going on the weekend. Maybe Best Buy is better, might at least give that a run based on what the folks here are saying.

Now I need to hire a 20-something or some teen to train me on this ****in' smarty-pants phone.

Care to elaborate? I have only gone to the store to buy. I mean, yes they like to push more product on you than you may want, but if you go in and let them know what you are after and nothing more it makes it easier. What makes it so bad in your experiences?

I'd say the time commitment between Verizon Store to Best Buy is 2:1 for an upgrade.

Hard to beat the $200 trade in deal VZW and AT&T are offering. I have three iPhone 4's that will drop in value quite a bit when iOS8 comes out. Should work that I can get my daughter and wife 5s' and me the 6.

The biggest question is do I jump to VZW and lose my unlimited data with AT&T in favor of better coverage.

The price is almost always higher in the store as online. For example, the stores will typically show the price with a $50 mail in rebate. When you buy online, that $50 is already taken off.

But really, lately I've found best buy to have better sales.

Wow, that was an experience. First I went to the local Verizon store and walked them through their promotions and plans. The guy needed a calculator to multiple 40 x 3. I didn't learn anything but hopefully they did.

Next I went to Best Buy and they were giving me copies of promotions, plan comparisons, phone comparisons, etc.

My iPhone has a crack on the back so the Verizon store dropped the trade-in from $200 to $78. Best Buy told me to spend $15 on Amazon for a new back and since the phone I wanted would not be available until October 4th I had plenty of time to fix it and I would get the full $200.

Then I went online to Verizon Wireless. The site kept making me re-login at every step so I gave up and quit.

The winner - Best Buy by far.

really wish someone besides TMobile was offering to buy out of current contracts. Sprint won't let me upgrade for another 6 months

Im going to be switching to VZW in the next month or so from Sprint.
That $200 trade in deal is what sold me, plus it seems they have much better coverage than Sprint.

I have unliminited data with Sprint, but I only use about 1/10th of a GB of data/month anyways since I'm almost always on wifi. So, paying for unlimited data is a waste of money for me.

So going to best buy for your business is the same as if I went to the verizon store?

Best Buy more knowledgable and want you to know about all of the options. From what I overheard at the VS they are independent and probably work on commission. Would like to know if they are paid like insurance people where they make a monthly commission for as long as the contract.
