Best case/Worst case

I love how they start losing to an FCS team and two other non conference games and STILL win 4 games. Proves the perception of the Big Ten is not good.

Best case scenario for Iowa State

Beat UNI, Iowa, Toledo, Kansas
Win on the road at Texas Tech
5-0 vs TCU Nationally televised game
I'd give us a shot to win

Lose at Baylor
Beat Texas at home
Lose at Oklahoma
2-1 In the final 3 games.

8-4 or 9-3.

Worst case: 1-11 with a loss to UNI.

That's a pretty wide base but I agree. Getting off to a fast start (very possible due to schedule) could have these guys playing beyond what they got in them. Especially after what they've been through the past couple seasons. On the flip side a quick loss against UNI could bust a potential frail psyche and cause everything to spin out of control regardless of talent level.

I think the first 3 games could give us a fairly accurate prediction on whether or not the team will make a bowl game.

My range is more narrow:

Best case: Win first 5 games, then get a win in final 7; or start 4-1 and snag two in final 7. Win bowl game by 17 or more points. 7-6 (4-5/3-6 Big 12).

Worst case: 3-9: Open season worse than 3-2, suffer a rash of injuries, stumble into a surprise upset-W in final half that suggests "progress."

13-0 National Championship
0-12

"Anything is possible" - Kevin Garnett

Nitpicking here..wouldn't it be 14-0? Or is ISU SO good this year that they blow up yet another system by just being given the title after the semifinal?

I think the 5-0 would have to be all very convincing wins for the TV coverage, and ya never know...I remember KU giving TCU a rough time last year.

Worst case: During the Iowa/Iowa State game an airplane crashes into the field killing nearly everyone in attendance but also blowing a hole into an underground cavern that the Crab People have been secretly digging. The Crab People come pouring out of their subterranean lair and enslave the Human Race.

That looks like an Iowa win for sure. Isu is just not very good this year, and Iowa has won 2 of the last 3 at Ames.

The question is how they win. Best case scenario. They come out playing hard put the game away early, avoid injuries, get the back ups a lot of minutes. Like in 2010.

Worst case scenario, they play to conservative so they let isu stick around. Starters get hurt. They win by grinding it out against a lesser opponent like in 2013.

Imo those guys are going to come out fired up and this will be more like the games in 2010 and 2009 rather than 2013 or 2008.

The Iowa football fan perspective in a nutshell with the 'let ISU hang around' talk. Good stuff.

I suppose they should have played ISU late in the season in '07 after getting worked by a directional Michigan school on senior day?

Well, thats kind of what happened last year, so....

13-0 would be right. No way a 12-0 ISU team makes the playoffs.
