Best Actors?

I really only watch dumb movies, so I'd have to go with Vince Vaughn, especially when Will Ferrell and/or one of the Wilson brothers is with him. I also like John C Reilly. He's another that has shifted from some rather bizarre roles (Magnolia) to pretty funny roles (Walk Hard). I also have liked Brad Pitt and George Clooney together, or Clooney alone in a few of his light hearted movies, like O, Brother...

Who would have thought this when Titanic came out.

I actually thought he was a really good actor before Titanic, when he did What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries and This Boy's Life, but then Titanic jaded me for a while on him.

That guy Geovoni Rabisie (SP?) is alway in good movies. He is one of those "that guy" actors that nobody really knows who he is until they see him.

Geovanni Ribisi (I think that's the correct spelling) is one of my favs as well. He was awesome in Saving Private Ryan and he even did a film with Cate Blanchett called Heaven where all he speaks is Italian. Was pretty impressive.

I'd definitely disagree on Brad Pitt and Downey Jr. I think they're both pretty terrible actually.

I could see people disagreeing with Brad Pitt - but RD,J? Have you seen him in "Chaplin," or "Zodiac," or "Natural Born Killers"?

Or Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang. My favorite movie with him in it.

I almost forgot Val Kilmer is awesome too. Spartan, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Tombstone, he was awesome in all of those.

Let's see... Of popular actors, I've got to go Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale, Brad Pitt (he hit his peak with "Se7en" and "Fight Club"), Edward Norton, and some more I can't think of at the moment.

Have several favorite directors, too.

I see a pattern there....

I'll cite Top Gun and Batman Forever as two reasons to not like Val Kilmer. But I'll give you Tombstone. Love that flick.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Ben Affleck or Tom Cruise yet.

They may all be okay to look at, too...

Agree w/you and CTA on Tombstone being a fantastic movie. I think I may know all of the lines.

Haha. Ben Affleck cries in every movie. Or at least 80% of them.

Tom Cruise has some really really good movie, but in the end....he's weird.

Costner if he's in the right roll (bull durham, tin cup). He's also the worst actor if he's in the wrong role (robin hood).

I always liked Michael Keaton. Very underated IMO. I also have always liked Joaquin Phoenix but it looks like he's giving it up.

I really didn't know much about her but Anne Hathaway is just phenomenal in Rachel Getting Married. I'll go out on a limb and say she'll win the Oscar for best actress this year.

I'm really surprised that Denzel hasn't been brought up more. I think he is a great actor. Pretty much every movie he is in is a great movie.

The problem is Washington is the same guy in every movie. A cop.

Sometimes he is a crazy cop, a druggie cop, or an undercover cop. Mostly just a normal cop.

Or the guy who has been pushed to the edge, a la "John Q." or whatever it was called. I like Denzel, but sometimes he's a bit predictable. Fantastic actor, though.

As far as bankable - I believe that Will Smith is (by far) the most assured box office opener.
