Bball Recruit Wish List...

The difference for me is that if your point forward is a good enough ball handler you don't need another PG on the floor. However, if you are just using the PF to break the press at times to take pressure off the PG (ex. when Niang brought it up), we still had a PG on the floor. It seems the discussion I read here lately is that Babb is interchangeable with Jackson and Wiggington. I am not so comfortable with that.

I don't know if the numbers support it, but Jackson didn't seem like the most dependable ball handler. Serviceable, sure, but he coughed it up under pressure a few times.

But you're comfortable with Jackson and Wigginton?

Imo Babb is a guard, but that's semantics or taxonomy. The real thing is that when he's on the court with Wigginton and Jackson he'll probably be defend by a wing. I think Babb vs a wing may be our best matchup in bringing the ball up. Also, Babb has nearly played as much pg as the other two.

I agree with you. Hopefully it'll be better when his wrist is 100%.

That's some reasonable speculation for why there would be some interest and he could surprise, but "absolute top" is stretch for a guy that has a fairly large sample of being average. If this were not such a position of need and or he was a 3 for 2 guy, sure.
I get it, not a whole lot of tape on him balling out at the P5 level - but let's be clear.. King is so far ahead in terms of skill/potential/impact than either of the grad transfers we had for 2016.. I can't see why anybody would have poo poo'd him as a viable option for us.

As point guards? Yes. Do I have the same comfort level as Monte'? Of course not from pure ball security. I am not bagging on Babb. With a bit of improved shot from the wing, he fits the 3-guard role on the wing well as he can penetrate and guard bigger players. From that position I thought he was an excellent ball handler (lower expectations than PG) and have confidence in him brining the ball up the court when guarded by a wing. His real strength is the ability to go towards the hoop with confidence.

Are you related to King? Not trying to be a d*** but we never even though about him and he transferred down to Middle Tennessee State. We're going after bigger fish

Not so sure about a pure defensive specialist as I think Long brings some of that to the table.

I think it's because we're not picking between those three.

Imo it's the "absolute top of the list for next year" part that is the disagreement. Hebappears to be better than some of our transfers in the past and a good portion of this year's ever growing pool, but for a wishlist that's hardly #1 criteria.

I guess we interpret the same tape differently. Babb looked just as good to me as Jackson in that role, and maybe just as importantly Jackson looked better in that configuration too. Babb played pg some in high school and this year when Morris was out everyone split the duties for a reason imo.

Not so sure we actually disagree, as I would like to see all three on the floor at the same time.

Im just going to leave these here. P5 level tape fellas, not JUCO. Fits just fine at the 3 or the 4, creating some diff lineup looks and mismatches.

But hey, I'm going to drop the subject. Obviously you guys are just super high level talent evaluators - and this dude already committed somewhere else reportedly, so its's a moot point.

Looks like a potential very good get. Absolutely top of the list? Well, there are a lot of guys with great highlight tapes that are very average in between those times. They often have numbers like King.

.

Babb is a better ball handler than Jackson.

The problem with that scenario is your take Barb out of the 3 where we are thinner.

Just curious as I know its pure speculation, but if some see Wigginton, Donovan, and Babb on the floor together, with Solomon as our 5, who is playing the 4? The juco or transfer we HAVE to hit big on, correct??
