Not if you do it right.

I think you lack a basic understanding of how our legal system works. If she had been charged with assault (would have been a HUGE stretch, IMO), it certainly would not have been felony assault. And she certainly would not have been convicted and sentenced to any jail time. Tech didn't want any digging into what preceded the punch, so they let the issue die. It would probably be best if we did the same to this discussion.

Funny how those two statements followed each other. :twitcy:
Assault, by definition, is exactly what she did. You can get charged with simple assault for threatening someone for crying out loud! Since there is proof in the vidoeo and say a few thousand witnesses, the next step would be proving a felony over misdmeanor. This is where they might have trouble as by definition she would have had to have caused "serious injury" to be considered aggrevated assault which is a 2nd degree felony in the state of Texas.

Also, the Tech player is the one who would have to file charges, not the school or the athletic department.

Exactly how are BU fans spoiled? Their fans ponied up the money to get their budget near $60,000,000.

1/2 of that was the result of one wealthy donor.

ISU is a school that has many working class students from blue collar backgrounds, who go on to have upper middle class incomes. Many of these people support as much as they responsibly can.

Baylor is a school full of upper crust old money elites. Many Baylor alums have more money to donate than ISU alums, and that is in many cases related to circumstances they were born into. How is a generous act of one capable individual representative of a fanbase as a whole? I would bet there are less than 5 ISU fans capable of such a donation, and how is it a poor reflection of the fanbase if those individuals refuse to donate?

That's a pretty gross generalization. It's a lot more accurate to say that Baylor is a school full of pastor's and missionary's kids than it is to say we are old money elites. Is there some of that in our alumni base? Sure, but it's not the majority, or even the largest subset, like you get at some schools like SMU.

Drayton McLane made an incredibly generous donation to our new football stadium. He didn't have anything to do with our athletic budget increasing from $11 mil to $60 mil.

Well, to be fair, it was down to Baylor and TCU. If TCU had gotten the nod, it doesn't seem crazy to think that Baylor could be back in, like TCU is now.

Although given their fan support when they were a successful BCS level program, I would have to think that they would have really fallen off as a member of a non-AQ league. Being located right in DFW definitely helped TCU build a program despite fan support that makes Baylor look great until recently.

TCU was never an option. Baylor was 22-5 vs. TCU and outdrew them 2:1 in the decades leading up to the Big XII. Houston might have been an option but had just gotten major NCAA sanctions thanks to John Jenkins and was 0 for the last 5 years or so...they were also the minority in their own stadium against every conference opponent except Rice, TCU and SMU...

what a crock ....... you made this **** up. jeez.

Huh? One donor is responsible for 1/2 of BU's annual AD budget? Where did you get that info from?

Only if your definition of "many" is less than 10%. The last figures I saw from a couple of years ago indicated that well under 10% of ISU alums contribute to the AD. Perhaps that has improved (and it desparately needs to). ISU has numbers on its side, and should be able to not only match, but eclipse BU's annual AD budget. Instead, ISU lags by nearly $10,000,000/yr.

You've just gone into complete poo-flinging mode here.

he reminds me of the guy in a bar who puffs out his chest looking for a fight after too many beers!! I wish we had folks who give to the AD like texans rather than good old conservative iowans who love to count their money in the basement and pinches each piece as they do.

facts have nothing to do with al_4's comments!!

Just because not everyone has descretionary funds to donate to the level you would like them to, does not mean they are being misers. Perhaps they have families to take care of.

I don't think that is the problem. The problem is the 90%+ (as of a couple of years ago) who don't give anything. The ISU alumni base isn't that poor...

it's still over 90% who talk a good game , put down the likes of Baylor and give absolutely nothing.

I like that the guy in this thread ragging on people for putting down Baylor has an avatar putting down the Cubs. Classic!

You are one clueless SOB

The amount of misinformation in this thread is absolutely staggering. But I suppose if you can't beat them and don't have facts to use against them, you simply make stuff up to make yourselves feel better.

Haters, they gonna hate.
