You don't pronounce their battle cry like that!!!Please, Please, Please confirm that he finished his two minute speech with GO HOKS!
And blaming it on ISU.Half of it was Barta saying he was warning all of their future opponents that they wouldn't be competing.
Chad and Mark just reaffirmed this with Condon on the radio. Mark and Trent didnt like the move and really criticized Barta. Mark said he talked to a swimmer's parent and they are really upset with the communication.
mare their fall scholarships honored? I assume so. Can they transfer by spring. Who would have room. UofI is so miss managed it is sad!!!!
and I say that as an ISU fan for life. Those kids deserve better from their university and AD.
The decision to cut could have easily been done when they announced that football was cancelled this year. It would have given the athletes a small chance to possibly find someplace that they could still compete at.
Agree with this. I also have been wondering with these cuts at not just Iowa but at other schools, were these sports already on the block just waiting to get chopped and COVID is a convenient excuss? It sure seems to me that is entirely possible. I just feel bad for the kids, they worked hard and then the rug gets pulled out from under them.
For those that want football and basketball players to get paid, this is the college sports world if we do that. I also think it is Ironic that some of the biggest voices for the let the college athletes get paid argument, are also some of the biggest advocates for more socialist type policies in our political world. Not sure how that works, where college athletics is a socialistic economy. You have one to two sports that make all the money but that funds several hundred other scholarships throughout the AD.
Just saw on SportsCenter that Iowa women’s swim/dive team files a Title IX complaint to get it reinstated. Complaint says it has not been in Title IX compliance for years. Complaint asks federal judge to reinstate the program. Not in compliance for years? How inept is Barta? He’ll have a one minute speech and bring in a scape goat to take the fall as to why they are not in compliance. Glad he’s your AD!! Get the popcorn ready!!
He cut three men’s programs and only 1 women’s program. Not a good thing to do but not sure how that makes it sexist.Yeah, I just saw this as well. Another sexist lawsuit for Barta to deal with. I wonder how many millions this one will cost him??
That guy is singlehandedly ruining Iowa athletics. Love it.
