Barnes to announce on ESPNU

He is setting it up to shock everyone by picking the Cyclones.
I hope so, because man that would be awesome!

But from what I have heard it isn't going to happen. In fact his choice will surprise many people.

Wish he would see how special he could make ISU basketball, but maybe it just isn't meant to be.

Does anybody know the kid? Or for that fact have a friend who knows him? I'm talking one degree of seperation at the most. What is he like? Does he value loyalty and Ames or is he big into flashy, gotta have the best, kind of stuff? If he is more down to Earth, more Iowan if you will, I wouldn't be surprised to find him in Ames.

Just sayin.

From what I have heard it is all about three letters for him:

NBA.

What I don't understand is if he shines at ISU, his draft stock will be just as high no matter where he goes to college.

ISU means he gets focused for a year without a big move, and if he is great enough to go top 10 in the NBA lottery, he has that opportunity. Simple as that.

I actually think that under a revamped McD's system, he would have the best chance to showcase his skills for the next level.

I think the strongest case for him personally and professionally would be to pick the Cyclones, I just hope he realizes that also.

I remember back when we were the leader for Glenn Rice and then he decided to stay "home" at Michigan.

I would love for it to be ISU's turn to get the super-talented kid to stay home but I am not losing any sleep over it nor will I judge McDermott exclusively by it. He is only one player and he will not make or break our program.

By the way, I wonder what ever happened to that great big card we signed for Rice when we were trying to show him the way to ISU?

A little off topic, but....

IF Barnes would decide to come to Iowa State, do you think Brackins would consider staying another year to maybe win a Big XII championship? Not that I'm counting on either, but it would seem like something that would have to cross his mind.

I bet it would cross his mind

No. Not a chance. I think there is absolutely 0% chance Craig comes back.

It would cross his mind but I doubt if he has another monster year that he risks losing draft status by staying 1 more year. He's already 22 years old meaning if he stayed another year he'd be 24 by the time he plays his first NBA game.

No. Craig is an old junior and needs to go to the NBA after this year.

IF Brackins did come back we would be thinking more than just a Big X11 championship. We would be thinking title. We would have 2 of the top 10 players in the country and some really good experienced talent surrounding

That would be nice wouldn't it!?! So many "what ifs". Like...what if Wesley J was still a Cyclone this year!?!?

No, Mr Brackins is going pro after this year. And i dont blame him. He has already given me more than I expected. He is here now.

Fixed that for ya. KU is goin' down.

And no, he wouldn't. Now, an(other) NCAA title, he might think about.

...for about two seconds.
