Hard to justify it and plan it all without knowing exactly if you will break even.

Yep. I attend the wbb banquet every year and when I asked the office for info this year they said there is no banquet. That's all that I know.

I understand budget cuts but feel bad for the seniors that the banquet was cancelled. Glad they got to go to Hawaii last year because the recruiting promises of "home" games in Australia and Vegas never panned out. I hear the senior speeches might be cut after this year too.

This poster and "Freestyle" who made their first post (memorably) in the Griner thread early this morning both list ISU and the NJ Devils as their favorite teams in their public profiles. Is there something weird in the board software that is assigning the Devils to new posters? That's a really odd coincidence.

Wrestling just had one - April 1 at Hickory Hall. It was very nice. I believe volleyball had one too.

it wasn't just plain 'budget cuts' without someone having a say....the coaches were asked for things to cut...banquets were put on the table and allegedly voted on by the teams. If a team wanted a banquet, they could have had one...they just would have needed to find a cut somewhere else. i suggested donors/parents paying for the banquets and it was stated that the students didn't really care about the banquets...or something in that regard. looks like the supporters of athletics may care more about recognizing the teams, than they do themselves. just the story that i got.

Is this a good source? Why would that even be discussed (and by whom) at this point in time? The speeches are part of the special fan/player relationship in ISU WBB. Not all schools do this - most just have a pre-game introduction and a bouquet. Judging on the fans who stay, I think there is a lot of support for these. But, if the girls don't want to . . .
