bailey injury

Obviously you must be about my age, nobody under 50 will probably get the 6 Million Dollar Man reference. LOL

Hey now, I'm still under 50! But its on one of the new channels on Youtube TV so I just happened to watch an episode yesterday.

Because he was to good to keep off the field, especially when Eni got hurt.
He certainly was needed on the field last year. One of either Peterson or McDonald was going to have to rotate with Bailey or Leo after losing Eni. Peterson’s game was more advanced so he was the best choice. Some people are so in love with redshirting that they seem to forget that we were battling for a conference championship late in the season.

Selfish me wants him to redshirt but thinking for him he’s probably done with school and ready to be done with class. I could see the sack record really being a factor in it though and if he can only come back for one or 2 games and realizing he might not get it then I could see him redshirting and giving himself 12+ games to get it next year. Having him next year would be huge for the D line.

There was a play in the game where he came flying through the line like a missle and missed the QB by just inches. Would have been a 8 yard loss at the least. I figured it was a LB on a blitz because of the speed he came through the line. Going to be a real thorn in the side of Big 12 offenses for a long time.

There was another play for which Peterson knocked his blocker back and almost right into the QB standing in the pocket waiting to throw. Is there a stat for a push sack in which you don't even touch the QB?

Comparing Bailey and Peterson based on Peterson's one game as a starter is pre-mature. - I imagine the known - Bailey - saw a lot more double teams than an unknown - Peterson.

It may boil down to what he thinks his chances are of playing in the NFL too. Not playing the rest of this season hurts his chances but so does playing a 5th year possibly too. He has the size to play at the next level but he's already 22 years old. Selfishly it would be great to have him back another year but he has a lot of things to consider including if he even wants to stay in college another year or move on to the next phase of his career or life too.

So if he were to redshirt we would have 4 DE's returning with quite a bit of experience plus guys like Blake Peterson pushing to get on the field. I wonder if Eni could put on 15-20 more lbs and move inside. Maybe he is too tall to be good at the nose.

Does age matter as much in the NFL? There's plenty of redshirt seniors drafted every year.

If Bailey comes back and helps us beat OU and/or Texas, I’m good with him not redshirting.

Just nice to have the option if needed.

Yeah I think that should be the benchmark. If he's not 100% and ready to start the Texas game, redshirt him. After that is too late

I'm sure a lot of you have noticed, but McDonald has been playing DE a lot this year. In passing situations to generate a pass rush

If Bailey redshirts I wouldn't be surprised to see enyi at the nose with petersen and Bailey at the DE spots
