Babb's defense

I have always been able to watch the whole court while the Cyclones are on offense and not just focus on the ball. But I find myself sometimes locked in on Chris playing defense and completely lose track of where the ball is at. His committment on the defensive end is just amazing. He has proven he can shut down guys no matter if they are 5-10 or 6-10. I was really nervous that Jackson would be to quick for him. Boy was I wrong. When Fred switched him at about the ten minute mark it just completely changed the entire game. It was fun to watch as the game progressed Chris's confidence in stopping Jackson just grew everytime down the court. Near the end Chris would stare him down at about half court and just nod his head as if to say "bring it little man".

I know most people would say either Scottie or Royce is this teams MVP but I would probably vote for Babb in spite of his streaky shooting. Ok I'm done with my Chris Babb lovefest.

No reason to stop. He's a great defender.

Babb alone with his D has won us plenty of games that we otherwise would not have won this year. He truly does not get enough credit

Babb has been a stud this year for us. Even when he's off on the offensive side of his game, he still brings it on D. It's so fun to watch.

I'm so glad we have him another year...

Babb's D has been mostly awesome this year. Has really done good work. He should be 1st Team Defensive this year. If he's not, then it's a travesty.

This team is a great TEAM. I love the different posts about almost each player's contributions. There is no one star that others can identify as a must stop. Everyone that checks in ends up being a factor to a win. This is a great TEAM and they are a blast to watch. May they give us several more games to watch them play this year!

Nice to hear. We went after him last spring, correct? Too bad he chose Baylor, we would be a legit FF team with him.

If we did, I don't think it was for very long. I remember hearing one thing about it, but he didn't want to come to ISU from the beginning I believe (from memory, and I can't find anything on Google yet). I think Iowa recruited him more than us.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Withey at Kansas, Babb might be getting consideration for Big 12 defensive player of the year. I think him being 1st team is a lock at this point.

There are times when I watch him play defense and I just shake my head in sheer amazement. One of the best I've seen.

Babb should get Defensive Player of the Year over Withey. He will not, be he should.

Eh, Withey is a defensive force down low. I think he deserves it. If Babb isn't first team all defensive team though that would be a travesty. Unfortunately for Babb, his stats aren't as tangible like guys who get a lot of blocks or steals.

Nothing against Babb, but he was not near quick enough to keep up with Jackson. His length helped him out a few times plus some good help defense.

Damn, Jackson played a good game. Wish we could have had Babb on him the whole game, but we were just outmatched at too many other positions then. Believe Tryus was guarding a 6-10 post for the majority of the game, not sure which one.

Great defender Babb is... even better when he can get a few threes to fall :)

???? Babb shut down Jackson in the 2nd half.

Well, I hope you realize that Babb wasn't defending Jackson in the first half? First half Jackson had something like..26-28 points? 2nd half he had 6 or 7, but Babb wasn't put on him right away if I remember correctly(?). I think Jackson got a few FTs and a 3, then Hoiberg decided to put Babb on him with only a few minutes elapsed in the 2nd. Jackson got shut down after that.
