Babb Tonight

I always felt he had the most ability to have a career in the NBA. With that frame, being a solid defender, and a three point shooter, he should have a great chance. Obviously it's just one preseason game, but I think he's got a great shot at this point.

Big dog's gotta eat! Celtics and Thunder are my two second-favorite teams now, after the Bulls. Heck, I may even tune into an NBA game now and then to see if these guys get some PT.

I agree. You see a lot of guys who are more dynamic college players never sniff the league. But, the NBA loves height and body type. Babb has that. He's almost prototype SG size...they'd probably like a little taller if they were building a player from scratch, but Babb has the muscle to stop the really tall SGs from posting him up. You add to that the ability to D up guys that he has...Babb guarded smaller, quicker guys all the time at ISU. His one hole is offensively. He's not going to drive past a lot of guys or bring the ball up the court or distribute. What he CAN do is be an effective threat on the perimeter. Camp out on the arc and spread the court while D-ing up your man...that sounds like the perfect NBA bench player to me. Babb is probably my favorite player so far under Hoiberg, so I hope he makes it.

You would think Babb would be exactly what Stephens would want on a team. Hard worker, tough D, and can hit the open jumpshot describes most of the guys coming out of Butler the last few years.

I would say the other problem with his game that may hurt his chances of making it in the NBA is offensive consistency. He can be blazing hot for a couple of games and then have his shot totally disappear for 2 or 3 games. If there is one thing the NBA lacks it is patience.

It looks like Brad Stevens and I are on the same page. Being a good person counts for something. Congrats to Nikki and Mike Babb and Chris of course for listening to his parents.

"But every time a player came off the court he would get up and tap their hand. He is a class act." wrote Georges' Mom

“Chris Babb has been one of the best workers, had one of the best attitudes, and been one of the best teammates in there from Day 1," Stevens said. "So it's not a shock at all that he went in and did what he did. We have been huge fans of his since he walked in the building."

I think Babb righted the ship as far as consistency his senior year. Junior year that definitely was the case.

Babb has quite a bit working in his favor. Obviously the defense and the spot up 3 pt shooting. He also is a low turnover guy who rebounds well for his position. I was also really impressed with his interview skills. When he was prepping for the draft, Clyburn and Babb were both making the local radio circuit and the difference between those 2 was night and day. Not that being a good interview will land you a roster spot (can't hurt), but it shows he has the ability to represent himself well. For the 15th roster spot I would think these intangibles are a huge plus.

Babb has a great shot to have a decent NBA bench career.

1) He can shoot if that's what's needed in a particular rotation.
2) He can defend if that's what's needed.
3) He's built like an NBA guy.
4) He's not a ******* like a good part of the NBA population.

Interesting to read that little bit about his teammate getting ****** that he didn't get the ball and not helping Babb up after the last shot. Shows you how cut throat these pre-season games are for the "nobodies"

Apparantly, MarShon Brooks is an ***.
