Away game roll call

I have heard from several people that TTech is the worst place to see ISU play. I heard their fans are d1cks.
I can concur. The fans at the stadium were crazy terrible towards us, and we were getting blown out that game (Gene Chizik was coach at the time).

That said, had a great time out on the town and met some great townies the night before. But the fans at the game were the worst of any of the below road games I've been to (not counting bowls). The closest next was Northern Illinois. That place sucked too. Then Iowa; the rest we've had great times and great interactions.

Road games are great - a great way to relax and give you an excuse to see a town you may not normally check out (besides maybe Austin and Boulder).

  • Texas Tech
  • Northern Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Army
  • Baylor
  • Oklahoma
  • Texas
  • Colorado
  • Texas A&M
  • Kansas
  • Kansas State
  • TCU
  • Nebraska
  • Missouri

I have only been to 1 ISU road game environment... Colo. Their fans were nice. Most of the students were baked before kickoff. You could smell the hippie lettuce all the way to the stadium. That was before it was all legal as well. Still was a fun place.

Someone pointed out that the Jets play the Raiders in LV the day after BYU. That’s a very doable double feature especially if it’s SNF
If it is the second game of the day (4:25 EDT) that is 1:25 PDT. That would be a tough trip down from Provo which is a 5 to 5 1/2 hour drive if you had to do it that morning. If BYU is an afternoon game you could stay somewhere halfway between that night.

My brother and I did the OU Saturday - Dallas Cowboys Sunday double. That is only 3 hours. ISU @ OU was a night game but Dallas/Philly was SNF. We even had time to have lunch at Babb Brothers. We did it two years early though. It was the last year in Norman before ISU broke the streak.

SLC to Vegas is a cheap flight and really fast. Driving would be tough but I would guess the majority of fans are planning on flying.

Booked flights/hotel/car. Not cheap, but not outrageous. Flying into SLC on 11/10, straight to Provo was pricey.
That’s too bad. I was able to get cheap flights from Denver on southwest and booked that Marriott property across from the stadium early at 140/night. Way cheaper than coming back to Ames.

Anyone going to Ohio? Just got the OK from the wife so we will be bringing the family.
My dad, my oldest boy, a buddy and I will be at UC! Wife and youngest opted out. We'll drive it, getting to be about the furthest I'll drive for an away game after too many trips to TX over the last few years (Alamo, TTU - once for my wife's grad and once for football, and Austin last year.) We drove to Austin on Friday, home by noon Sunday. That was a haul at high speeds! The racetrack between Denton and Austin was entertaining!
