Auto-Bid Madness 2016

Actually Fran said during the game that them losing to Gonzaga actually bumped Gonzaga to a top 50 team... thereby giving St Marys 2 Top 50 wins. So there is that.

Yea when I heard Fran mention that I thought it was pretty crazy. Sounded like they were basically saying since St Mary was on the better side of the bubble than the Zags that even if they lost it would almost be a wash since it would then mean they had 2 other top 50 wins. Hopefully that't not how the committee would look at it to automatically say they should be in. I'm not a big fan of how guys like Vitale are getting to the point where they are saying "don't look at the wins and losses or the schedule, the eye test says they are a tournament team".

I guess before long even if you don't actually win the games, if you look good in losing you should still be a tournament team because the team is a "tough out" for other teams. probably a little extreme of an example but I'm not a big fan of going away from RPI and what a team has done in the season and basically just going to an eye test of who should be in.

That would probably result in a heavy lean toward everyone east of the Mississippi.

cyclones500 / ImJustKCClone, I'm not sure which one of you is keeping track of this, but my picks don't match the ones in the first post. It doesn't matter much since I still only have one lonely victor (Chattanooga) but I figured I'd let ya know.

It's cyclones500's game, but he's been having connectivity issues. Since I was tracking for my own kicks & giggles, I went aheada & posted the win totals I had yesterday. I don't think I've posted any picks, though? I will double-check your picks to make sure I have the right ones in my file. :)

I really hope we don't draw Gonzaga in the first round. Not sure what they're projected for, but could see them at a 10-12.

Part of me thinks Gonzaga will end up at an 11 seed possibly even a 10 — Resume seems to fly in the face of that, but if there's any dabbling into non-RPI assessment by committee, GU (and related, SMC) have super-high computer numbers. (SMC's RPI is near that "Magic 30" range, too, and Gaels are probably in, too).

We got a bid stealer heading to the finals in the AAC with both 10 seeded Tulane and 6 seed Memphis winning today.

Wouldn't surprise me if Memphis wins their tourney. And feel bad for whichever three or four seed that would have to play them. Overall bad year but the team has talent

For reference ... I think this is the complete list.
