Hopkins was expected to win. Garrigan is Iowa 1A Champion. Hopkins is a Minnesota Champion larger class. Garrigan wanted the increased competition to challenge themselves. Not a lot of competition in 1A Iowa. Hopkins is one of the biggest challenges around.

Garrigan. Was thinking it was when they joined the TIC or it was NCC. All I’m positive about was it was a requirement to join was to have a wrestling team. They agreed and then never did. They had their own youth team for awhile also, not sure if it’s still going or not.

I imagine that they simply wanted better competition and this one became available. Ironically, it has led to so much critique of Audi. I see a high BB IQ, impressive footwork, good handle on the ball, and a great motor. Cannot wait to see what she is like after a full experience of development in a top college program. Not unlike thinking about getting Soares as a first-year college player. They are different players, but with Audi, she gets to benefit from the Fennelly staff from Day 1.

I'm pretty sure they played one of the big DSM suburban schools last year to get better competition.

Hopkins won 72-45 and beat Dowling the next day by 10. Hopkins girl going to michigan had 28 points on 13-13 shooting. Against Dowling she only had 3. Algona beat the number 1 class 2a school in their second game. Never saw any stats for the Iowa teams. Hopkins is beating a lot of teams by more than they beat Algona.

Bishop Garrigan. That is the name of the school. Algona is the public school. Less confusing and more accurate to use school name. Probably why you said “Dowling”……….not Des Moines.

I still contend if she plays we must go zone.
I fail to see her switching on a high post pick.
Could lead to a lot of easy shots for opponents.

She does have some pretty good offensive skills. She may struggle with tall athletic opponents, but their numbers are somewhat limited in the conference.

She has agility and athletic ability. I still think it might be different when she's only playing in 5-minute spurts and doesn't have to conserve energy, but we really won't know until November. She certainly doesn't have much experience playing a more active defensive style, so I'm sure there will be plenty to learn regardless.
