Attendance?

I was on the WSU side. The ISU side of course looked and sounded to be all ISU, as did both end zones save for sponsors, locals, HS band and families etc. The half of the WSU side I was on - don't remember directions in the dome, but I was at the 30 on the end zone painted with Iowa State - was probably 60-40 or better ISU. The other half of the WSU side appeared to be heavy WSU. There seemed to be a lot more sponsors, HS band kids and families, random locals than I thought. I'd put it roughly at 30,000 for ISU, 10,000 WSU and 19,999 others plus 1 **** for brains hawk fan that blew his once a decade trip outside the Eddyville city limits because he misread the Register and thought Iowa was in the Alamo Bowl.

Bowl officials were very happy with how things went. 60675 was total attendance, ISU made a bunch of new fans around Trice South. We'll be going back.

Not surprising they didn't have many fans show up, they thought they would be playing Alabama if not for the unfortunate blowout agaisnt their arch rivals.

I saw several people there wearing hok gear and not just at the game. Just don't get what's wrong with those people and why they'd bother going at all. To me, it says a lot about someone's (lack of) personality to wear a rival's name or logo to an event like that. Trash gotta trash, I guess.

That's amazing! Other schools' fan bases claim to be loyal, but they slink away when they experience a Cyclone invasion.
Liberty Bowl, B12 KC tournament, Hilton Magic, even our womens BB is well followed.
And we're not talking perennial winner/blue blood programs. Really is impressive.

There were more Wazzu fans than I would have expected. Saw them wandering around fairly often on Friday afternoon. I would not say 15 to 1 as some have -- maybe 7 to 1.

Will say the vast majority of Wazzu people were 50+ in age... we had a lot of 20-30 somethings, not to mention families with kids.

I was pleasantly surprised to see so many Cyclone families with small kids in San Antonio. Most talked about the drive down so they made a vacation out of the whole deal.

I got in town about 4:00 Wednesday and I am not kidding when I say I didn't see a Cougar fan until Thursday afternoon!

I talked to several Cyclone fans that live in Texas and just came to San Antonio just for the game.

In our section (241) there were ISU fans, Texas Fans, A & M fans and a lot of other locals. Most cheered for ISU, a few were just football fans and cheered the great plays by both teams. The locals I sat by thought it was in poor taste the hawk fan showing up like that. She said, “Why would he do that?” Her boyfriend or husband was just like, “I don’t know. It’s dumb.”

One of the coolest things? The family behind us was from Scotland in the US on holiday. They happened to be in town, one of their friends from San Francisco said they had to go to the game as it should be good and ISU should win. They had two kids, one ~15 (boy) and one ~13 (girl). The boy was very knowledgeable about football. He was explaining penalties and things to his family.

Way more Washington State fans in the stadium compared to those out and about the Riverwalk or Pearl area. That being said minimum 25k ISU fans there, probably closer to 30k

I would agree, way more in the stadium compared to what we saw on the Riverwalk. And nobody will ever be able to convince me there were less than 30k Cyclone fans at that game, zero doubt in my mind.

All in all an amazing experience for our group. Pretty much everyone we talked to was nice & complimentary of our fan base, from locals to the couple Wazzu players that showed up to the bar we were at post-game. Couldn't recommend that trip more for future Cyclone appearances!

I’m confused at the math here. If it sold out at 60k and 2/3 we’re cycone fans it should be 40k not 30k
I'm suspicious the announced attendance included some block purchased or school assigned tickets that went unsold. My guess is 35K Iowa State, which I believe is a very impressive performance by Cyclone Nation.
