ISU will have to make a final decision on fans well before that i imagine. Tickets normally start going out in about a month. They'll probably not want to spend all the time and money on that if fans aren't going to be there.

The fact of the matter is, as we've discussed in this thread, nothing is going to change between now and then with regards to this particular matter. The reason not to have fans is that large events create a large community spread risk. That is the case now, and nothing will change about that between now and September. So it wouldnt be 'premature' at all to make that recommendation now.
True. Being in the stands when Iowa State toppled #9 Nebraska, 37-28, on Nov. 13, 1976 was great fun however I gotta think my bachelor of science degree from ISU from that same time period was just a tad more important in the overall scheme of things.
Or, all tickets and parking passes are electronic this year, which is what the TOE is mentioning
I mean, they're better than nothing, but they definitely aren't a good substitute for seeing people in person
I think they're just setting the stage right now. It's a lot less messy to refund a bunch of game tickets than it is to run the state fair. It's two months until the first game and while I'm sure they'd rather have a clear answer now they don't really have to make a firm decision for at least a month, really closer to just a week before the first game.
You ask Jamie Pollard about “only giving up football for one season” and see what his response is. The financial ruin would be nearly impossible to overcome.
Why does Ankeny continue to push an in-person graduation in an indoor facility when every other large high school in the United States has done either virtual graduations or outdoors with social distancing? Seems to me a very foolish, selfish, and unsafe desire on the part of the school district.
Hey, I guess if a high school graduation indoors is safe then we don't have to worry about basketball in Hilton...bring on the fans!!!!

Every other, as in every other one, may be more accurate. Ames High was going to do its graduation in Hilton this past weekend. Some newly confirmed COVID-19 cases led to that not happening.
I have no idea what will happen. But I guess I just don't think it is an Iowa State decision. The NCAA is going to decide for everyone. As it should.
I agree. But then again I really just care about Iowa State. Posters seem to believe that you can skip the 2020-21 calendar and things will recover. That’s not the case. Non-revenue sports will be gone and I would suspect that 55-70 schools would face the very real prospect of dropping football and/or basketball.
For those of us that love college sports it will never look the same if football isn’t played in 2020-21.
This is my takeaway as well. It would undoubtedly be much easier to just proceed without fans. If the Athletic Department is still trying to get fans in the stadium you can safely presume there is a reason for it, and I'd venture to guess the reason is the absolute necessity of in-person attendance to their financial situation.
