How much is the Iowa Energy losing their last game and not moving on in the playoffs going to cost the AD? If the Energy had advanced Nurse would not have signed with ISU since they would still be playing after Mac left. Any word on how much Nurse gets for four days of work?

Uhhhh no you are a FAIL. He was hired as Director of Basketball Operations the same year Chalmers signed with KU. Then when Mario left KU, Mr. Chalmers "left to pursue other options"

Mario committed to KU in May of 2004. Ronnie started the job in June 2005, over 13 months later. And the guy won a National Championship, so if he was unqualified, the results didn't show it. Keep fighting the good fight, though, against KU's legal hiring practices.

Coach said he is looking for a former head coach. One of the reasons Fred is successful is he seeks people out who are willing and able to mentor him - who can do things he can't. This hire could be active from a lower level school or a retired D-1. Any ideas on this one?

The word on the street is that ex-Charlotte HC Bobby Lutz and Hoiberg have talked.
This would be a good hire, IMO. Lutz did very well at Charlotte.

At the presser today, a couple of bb people told me that Larry Brown has recommended Lutz to Hoiberg.
In addition to talking lots to Tim Floyd over the weekend, Fred has spoken with Brown. Hoiberg practically worships Larry Brown.

Ahh, the (state of) North Carolina connection. 5-7 years ago Lutz was a hot commodity.

I don't have any more inside info. - if Gary Thompson has more names at breakfast tomorrow, I'll ask if I can relay them on.
Keep in mind, I'm not saying Lutz will get the job, just that he has been recommended, and the two have talked. Hoiberg has a list of hames supplied by Floyd and Brown (those are the two coaches that Hoiberg holds in the highest esteem).
Some reporter asked him after the presser if he can get tough with players, and he said, "I survived Larry Brown's practices - if I can, I expect my players to."

I remember during the press conference and the interviews that Fred mentioned he wanted a white hired gentleman with lots of D1 coaching experience on his staff. The first thought that crossed my mind upon hearing that was: "Is Tom Davis available?" Imagine both "The Mayor" and "The Professor" coaching together on the same bench; makes me happy just thinking about it. Tom Davis would be an excellent coaching mentor for Fred and teach him how to navigate the maze that is the NCAA rulebook. Just a thought.:idea:
