Ashley Joens Future

This is the mock with her at 4.

She's number 9 in espn's mock.

The ESPN Mock by Michelle Voepel on Feb 17 does not have her in the first round.

Here's one dated Feb. 16 that has her third. You can't take one mock draft as gospel just because it's espn.

You're the one stooping to his level by dragging him into a conversation about Ashley.
He belongs in a discussion of Ashley’s future, as the family is close and just because you think poorly of him doesn’t mean she does! My personal observations at the restaurant and City High lead me to believe they enjoy each other’s company.

Just saw where her Dad like liked stormed into the locker room after his youngest daughters regional finals game in IC. Sad that he is such a douche when his kids are on the court.
Where did you read this? I was present and I’m relatively confident Brian wasn’t there. When I left, Kelsey was happily taking photos with the team on the court. He had no reason to be angry as they prevailed and Kelsey was a big part of it.

As to this thread’s topic, I believe Ashley will move on to pro basketball following this season. Not that I have any special insight, but the young lady is a planner and I think she’s accomplished what she wanted to at ISU. Jmho

WNBA is expanding to Iowa City? Link?

That's my feeling too. It'd be incredible to have her return, but I'm not holding my breath.

On a similar topic, are people assuming Jordao is coming back? When she was signed, the press release specifically mentioned her having two seasons of eligibility remaining (even though she's a senior), so I've always assumed her plan was to be here two years.

Would LOVE to see Ashley return next year. There is something very comforting about other teams trying to keep up with the Joens's.

If I had to guess right now on who is going to use the COVID year:

2022-23
As. Joens - no
Jordao - yes

2023-24
Frederick - no, that'd be year 6 for her
Kane - no, that'd be year 6 for her
Maggie - maybe, given how much time she's missed to injury

2024-25
Ryan - no
Donarski - no
Au. Joens - no
Diew - maybe
Zingaro - depends on how her midseason start (eligibility clock) is/was classified

Must be one of dem soothsayers. Seriously this is pretty stupid.

From estimation, it often does not end up being super successful for players to go for that 5th year if they have options such as overseas play or luck with WNBA.

I'd be surprised if she is back for 2023, but not shocked if does.

What is Jadda Buckley up to?
Unless your JB from Iowa on being a full time Hawkeye what year is he on actually number 5 and a half or third? Jess Settles might be coming back to team up with him next season!

I think she's a great college play, I just wonder about how often she gets her shot blocked now will equate at the next level?

ISU WBB tweeted a thank you from the seniors: Ashley Joens and Maddie Frederick. As posted above, we knew Ashley would be participating in senior day festivities. The two new pieces of info: apparently Fred is leaving (she's a redshirt junior) and Jordao is not. Neither of those surprises me.

I expect she'll be more of a three-point/mid-range player in the WNBA. She has the ability to do it.

I'm skeptical she will prove quick enough for that and don't think her inside "crafty" game translates to the WNBA but hope I am wrong if WNBA is what she wants to try for. Bridget Carleton sort of reinvented herself to carve out a niche with the Lynx after she got that late season signing after being cut by the Sun(?). Returning for her 2nd year she had (per Lynx announcers) lost weight added fitness, quickness and defense. Eye test, she does look really fit! The role and game she plays for the Lynx isn't what she did at ISU or even what she plays for the Canadian national team. The WNBA is everything a lot of Cyclone fans in this forum sort of seem to hate, defense focused. It's not the NBA regular season of no defense till the playoffs. And it's short season, short rosters and short tenures where players are added and dropped like crazy.

Even without being outspoken, everybody knew Bridget wanted to play pro and (maybe even more so?) wanted to play in the Olympics for Canada. Still doing both so super happy for her. Don't really recall ever hearing too much about what Joens wants to do post-graduation. Pretty much a "Who knows?" Even with one year transfer Alexa Middleton everyone knew she was going to go play pro in Europe or elsewhere.

so is Kane back then? I thought she's done too because she's also a redshirt junior. Unless she is finishing her masters at ISU
