Note the headline says "Wilkins' dad says son not going to Iowa State" rather than "Wilkins not committed to Iowa State."

Wilkins' dad says son not going to Iowa State - Peoria, IL - Bradley Hoops

I work in the media world and emailed an editor I know at the Peoria Journal Star (where the article is from). I asked him to clarify their position on the wording of the headline. From his response:

"the headline is very much intentional and that is as much as I can say. Stay tuned and you will see..."

I would hate for my life to depend on what 18 to 20 yr. olds think and do. On the other hand I don't make 1/2 to 1 mil a yr.

The headline states: “Wilkins' dad says son not going to Iowa State”. However, the actual quotes from Wilkins’ dad state: "He's not committed to Iowa State.” "He liked it, but he's not committed there.” If the headline was intentional in the way it was written but goes against the quotes from his dad than that is journalistically unethical. At worst he’s still trying to make up his mind but we are still high on his list.

Sounds like Daddy might be "marketing" his son to the highest bidder. It seems like that is how the (recruiting) game is played now.

I guess I don't see where the father is doing anything wrong. It looks like he is leaving the final decision up to his child. I don't think theres a single person on this board who would handle the situation differently, given that you were a caring parent...

Just reads that he isn't going to give any information away about his son's recruitment. Totally respect that.

Jeff wants Indiana
Jon wants ISU

Is he really leaving it up to his son?

Hope this isn't a case about news being leaked from the ISU staff has ticked off the family.
