Arod looking at lifetime ban

Because it's stupid. Most of the HOF's that everyone likes to tout as honorable players took amphetamines to keep their energy up during the season (they're now banned by mlb). You notice that the other leagues don't have these big pronouncements? Von Miller just got popped by the NFL, do you see wall-to-wall coverage by the tv networks on this issue?

Oh I agree on the amphetamines... Baseball wants their sport to be clean so be clean. Hell gambling was met with a lifetime ban..why not cheating/PED's?

Stain? Yes, let's not "stain" the Yankees with PED use...

You telling me the Yankees didn't know when they got him the first time?

And STILL didn't know when they reupped on that ridiculous 10-year deal?

And what the hell is he staining, that Clemens and Pettitte didn't? And they still don't have a problem bringing Pettitte back.

They were perfectly fine with the "stain," but now that he's not producing anymore and a different Steinbrenner is pulling the shots, it's nothing more than a convenient escape hatch for that contract.

But I'm sure we'll all be fed some kind of "Yankee Way" Grade A BS about why they're dumping him.

In general I have to agree and take my lumps. But given that PEDs go from the top markets (Yankees) to the bottom (Brewers) and probably every team in between, at a variety of player skill levels for each team, I wouldn't indulge in so much hubris. The stain is that he was caught, and provided such a cheesy explanation, and has had health and performance issues ever since. Although, even without PEDs Arod is a d-bag in my book. What team are you a fan of? Are you sure that they are ALL CLEAN? No skeletons in YOUR teams closet?

Speaking as a Yankees fan (which goes all the way back to my playing shortstop in the Raccoon Valley little league in the early 1970's - research Bucky Dent in Des Moines), I can't wait to get rid of that d-bag. It's not the salary issue, it's just the stain he brings. BTW: I AM sweating bullets when it comes to possible PED links to other Yankees players :(
See: Cervelli, Francisco.

And Pettitte's situation is a lot different than A-Rod's. Pettitte admitted he messed up and it wasn't illegal when he did so (I think he used it in 2002 and HGH wasn't illegal until 2006?). A-Rod on the other hand is trying to pay people to keep their mouths shut.

No, my team isn't clean, but that's my point.

There are likely many more unknown cheaters/former cheaters than we have known cheaters. From every team. Any team acting like they're "above it" is total BS that you'd have to be a fool to fall for.

Arod/steriods has been rumored for plenty of time, and he has always been a walking drama/sideshow, and the Yankees STILL re-upped him.

Any BS about the Yankees parting ways with him because of PEDs and all his baggage is ridiculous. They knew who they were climbing into bed with.

They want out from under the contract, period. It has to do with $$$, not drugs.

But once again, by your own argument, we can make this case against every MLB team that has resigned any of their high productivity players. Remember, they know more about their skeletons than we do.

Arod gets lifetime ban.

Braun gets 65 game ban to the end of the season. After lying to the MLB and his team is out of playoff contention.

Selig does way too much to help the Brewers organization.

actually isn't he helping the Yankees get out of Arod's contract? They should do lifetime bans for those guys with $100MM contracts - that will get the message across real fast.

The funny part is Braun thinking he'll go on vacation the rest of the year and the reset button will be hit, next year.

They need to throw his *** out.

Heck now the Yankees need a third baseman. He'll probably get a bazillion dollar contract thrown at him.

In related news the NFL has announced that they will begin testing for HGH next year. Any player who does NOT test positive will be kicked out of the league.

right or wrong baseball is held up as some glorious escape to what was wonderful in our youth, our country, and the idea that sports are a meritocracy. throughout everything baseball has remained the one constant in our county, played the same for over 100 years. baseball should be held to a higher standard as it's the standard of our country.

i still believe in the romantic notion that there is baseball and then there is everything else.
Thank you.
