Very interesting... Arnaud + Herman = bright future?

Im surprised to see how good TB stats were in '97... 20 TDs! I didn't think the whole team had 20 TDs that year

and sages only 8 TD passes, but he did have 8 rushing too i think

He had a good WR core that year. Plus backs that could catch and run with the ball (D Davis for one)

Cy bookie on whether or not AA can set the career passing yards and TD marks?

3,059 total and 15 Td's with the yards from '07 included.
Myers grand total was 9,499 and 50 Td's.

AA would need 3,250 the next 2 seasons to put him at 9,553. He was just over 450 yards behind that mark in '08. And he'd need to average 18 Td's as well to break that mark.

I feel he could approach those numbers but not quite eclipse them. had he played a larger role as a freshman and threw for another say 500 yards, then he'd be surely in the dicussion.

If he does surpass Myer, then its safe to say we probably had a couple crazy seasons in ames with that kind of output.

Something is wrong when talking about an Iowa QB Vs an ISU QB gets 5 pages of posts while looking at 5 ISU QBs cannot even get a page.

In my opinion, AA has the tools to be the best QB ISU has ever had. If he maximizes his potential, what type of season will ISU have?

Its easier to argue about the other crap than it is to talk about the positives. I didnt realize AA was so good. I mean, I know he has talent, but I never really pay attention to stats. It really gets me excited about his potential.

cause you are.
Now where is that age thread...there are some fossils in there if I'm old :wideeyed:

Can anybody tell me who was here before Bandhauer so I can see if I at least recognize the name? I knew almost all the basketball players (Dedric Willoughby...you da man ) but don't remember many football players...

You truly have no desire to go to KC do you?

And Austin Flynn

God, I remember the first game I went to...Todd Bandhauer under center...I feel old

I remember the first game Bandhauer played. His redshirt was pulled with just a couple games left in the season, after the immortal Todd Doxson went down with an injury.

I feel older :sad::sad:

OOoooo! I recognize Doxson's name  Just think about it this way, maybe I just remember a lot of Iowa State history for being 20. Or maybe you're just old :wideeyed:

AA is accurate and does not make a ton of mistakes. He threw less interceptions in his sophomore season than every single guy up there threw in their senior seasons.

Almost all of the guys preceding AA were mistake prone...AA is not. This alone should help him a ton.

I had no idea that he basically had one of the best ISU seasons ever last year. Honestly I don't know why people have been in a hurry to replace him especially since he was splitting time at the start of the year. Kid has a great future ahead of him and this proves it. Thanks for the numbers kingcy.

I wonder what their QB ratings would be for each year?

Exactly. I think some are just excited to see what Tiller can do from the hype, but at this point why would any coach pull a fantastic player to let a could be play. I have no doubt Tiller is fantastic, but if it isnt broke, dont fix it.

Yup. But almost always, losing is put on either the coach, QB or most often - both.

People continued to believe Bates was the better guy when performance and stats proved otherwise. AA is part of the solution, not the problem.

If Tiller is better, so be it - get him in there. I'd love to see that because I firmly believe AA to be rather special, so Tiller would have to be pretty damn good...which would be fantabulous.

Austin Flynn will always be one of my favorite players - he gets beat out of the QB position, and instead of sulking about it freely changes positions and becomes a MAJOR contributor to our team. If we only had more players like him.

Definitely. That guy was a Cyclone, through and through. I really hoped that Bates would have done the same thing. I think he could have been a huge asset at safety or wide receiver. Oh well...

I am in the AA camp, and I think he will end up being something really special in the next two years. I think some people got really excited about Bates' athletic ability. AA is a great athlete, but Bates was faster. I think Tiller is also up there in athletic ability, so some people want to see what he can do on the field. I personally think that AA's throwing ability was and is miles ahead of his competition and that far outweighs the extra speed. AA isn't exactly slow either.
