Arnaud or Tiller? And will coaching change affect this?

Who do you think will grab the starting spot next season at QB?
Also, will Rhoads throw a wrench into this and change the makeup of our team?

I doubt Arnaud will lose his starting spot. He is good QB and has experence on his side. He just needs some help to get the job done.

The one thing I will GUARANTEE you about coach Rhoads is this, he will play the best person at the respective position!!!! You won't see him playing "his" guys over Chiziks guys like you saw with Chizik doing (see JJ Bass and Hamilton for examples).

I'm not denying that Arnaud is the better player. Here's an example of how a new coach can change a team: Texas A&M. Stephen McGee was a 3 year starter I believe. Mike Sherman comes. Jerrod Johnson is named the starter because he is believed to be the future of the team.

Was Johnson better than McGee? If McGee was so good Franchoise (sp??) would still be there.

Lets hope Chizik took that damm dog house with him too. There was a lot of talent sitting on the sidelines this past year for reasons we dont know.

As long as Arnaud doesn't completely lose it all in the offseason, this. Dude showed enough.

I'm guessing Tiller will get some looks, however.

2 years ago Arnaud was the future of this team. There is a lot of reasons he will get the starting job.

Well if I was McGee, I'm one of 2 things: a good team player because I know I'm not good enough for the NFL and Johnson is the future.
OR
I feel shafted because a new coach comes in and totally overrules what has been in place for the past couple of years.

maybe there were good reasons. We don't know, like you said.

I, for one, didn't mind the dog house.

One thing seems likely: Everyone will be starting on the same page, which means a fresh start for any player who wants one.

New HC, new staff, all new round of player evaluations so the staff can become familiar with each athlete's abilities.

Lots of speculation heading into Chizik's first season here that Bret Meyer would be beat out; didn't happen. Just way too much experience (something like 45 game starts) for a rival to overcome.

And, AA's natural gifts are superior to BM's, isn't it agreed generally? Didn't AA take every snap after the KU game? AA's a big, strong, athletic kid with a fine arm. Can't see that mixture of talent and experience sitting on the bench.

Based on PR's amorphous description of the offense the Cyclones will run (sideline-to-sideline, stretch the field), it'll be some form of spread style. Suitable to AA, right?

Lots of high hurdles for JT to leap over on the way to a starting job. Excited as heck to have JT here, but he'll need time to catch up to AA.

But, then, as I continually remind myself, what the heck do I know, what do any of us know?

After the way Arnaud finished the year, there's no way he'll lose the starting job.

what about reynolds? coming in next year

With his reputed speed and size (6-1, 190-210), his most valuable role might be as a field-stretcher. Would love to see him do that.

I wonder who our fastest WRs are? Can DR, DD, SJ, JC (Carlson) all stretch the field? Others? (I'm hopeful Carlson will step up in spring ball and prove himself ready to make a contribution; could be he needed a year to adjust to BCS level football).

I'm so dang happy for Houston Jones, seems like just a great kid. I thought he did so well in the spring 2007 (or was it 2006?) game that surely we'd see him on the field before we did last fall. (Again, a case of what do I know?)

Although there are a naysayer or two here, I'm excited, too, as all get out about verbal commitment Josh Lenz. What a terrific athlete he appears to be.

And Marquis Hamilton . . . and TEs Derrick Catlett and Collin Franklin.

Sure seems like we've got some pass-catchers for AA and JT to target. DR is the latest addition to what should be a team strength.

Pass protection . . . anyone here know how many OLinemen lettered last fall? Wonder how many of our interior guys got meaningful game experience. . . .

I never understood the reason why Chizzled played so many true freshmen when there was talent on the bench that would have put more wins on the board. Coach Rhoads will play the best players not the favorites.
