People forget that we're far overachieving for the level of talent we have. We're running at ceiling level most of the time and if another team can take away a single guy, adjust to our D, get an advantage in fouling, or have a single guy get hot on their side, it hinders us greatly.

We've been Top 3rd of league in wins the past 2 years on roughly 8-9th place talent.

I just think it's hilarious that people keep getting upset or questioning TJ or the players when we're in year 2 after a 2-22 season and years ahead in the rebuilding process. When you have Jones playing more than 1-2 minutes a game, you know you have talent deficiencies.

To those that disagree that we lack talent and point out the blown leads, I'd say you're proving my point. TJ can coach a bunch of lower level guys to a hell of a first half, despite not having great shooters, amazing athleticism, great size, or much consistency from any position.

But, we're going up against teams that also have coaching staffs and make adjustments. When they are able to adjust to how our few scorers are playing and account for the schemes, those leads fade. That's evidence in my eyes of a lack of talent being able to keep up with the changes other teams make. TJ can only make so many adjustments if the shots aren't falling and he only has 1-2 guys that are legit scorers.

Yes, we are a very easy upset looking forward, anybody that thinks we're not capable of losing to anybody on any night hasn't paid attention to what we have to work with on the roster. However, we've also proven that our coaching can get us into any game and if a couple guys get hot, the players can keep us in those games.

People say for years they'd rather have a tough, gritty team than some 5-star lineup. Here it is, and it's just not good enough for 'em.

We’re spiraling out of control and you can’t be a tourney team without 20 wins these days and I just don’t see how we get there.

Thoughts?

And people accuse me of overreacting.

We have a ton of quality wins, few bad losses, and are extremely competitive on the road, even when we lose. We can lose our remaining games and we are easily in.

We have lots of issues right now though. Our guards are extremely inconsistent from beyond the arc. We were very careful with the ball through the first part of the conference season but have become careless, often committing unforced TOs. Lipsey in particular is committing the most senseless of turnovers. He needs to figure it out.

I have to say I am extremely disappointed with our staff when it comes to in game adjustments. I have absolutely no clue what Osun was doing for most of the game. Big Rob was working his ass off posting up despite having little in the way of talent or skills. Then we have Osun running around up top, looking to set screens for weaves, and rarely even looking to collapse down. More perplexing was the lack of posting up, something we desperately could have used today. It's crazy.

When we are on the road it's like everything is scripted. Get a first have lead and have a 5+ plus lead sometime in the 2nd half. Commit a bunch of senseless, unforced TOs. Over-helping/collapse on D and leave 3 point shooters open. Struggle to corral key loose balls and have those missed ops end up resulting in 2nd chance points. Miss free throws. Then rinse and repeat the next road game.

It would be nice if the team had a vocal leader. Too often it feels like an army without a general. We could really use one.

Over Iowa State’s last 8 games, we have committed 40 more fouls than our opponents and are losing by 43 from the free throw line. You do that and you are LUCKY to go 3-5 in that stretch. Our margin is -10 in those 8 games.
