I think his tweet was more directed at people saying the team couldn't win on the road.
It was, but I think he had his haters in mind with it as well

What's love got to do with it? Love is just a second-hand emotion.
Right, anyone who says anything personal about him on here or on twitter is an idiot, but the people who have said he was struggling are right. Even after today he's still only shooting 30.8% from 3 on the year, his 3 point % for his career is 32% on an almost two year sample size. That's not good.
Just to keep the conversation at a factual level, here are the 3-pt % for Hoiberg as a FR and SO at ISU:
Hoiberg (FR) 26% (13 for 50)
Hoiberg (SO) 36.7% (22 for 60)
Career through first two years 31.8%
Any comparison to Fred is not going to help Matt out. Fred took 231 2 pointers to 50 3's as a freshman, Matt took 49 2 pointers to 131 3's as a freshman. Josh Ogelsby shot 31.4% from 3 for his first two years too to add another factual level to the conversation.
Matt had a great game today. Props to him, his teammates, and Coach for sticking with it.
Matt is a sufficient 8th man for a good Big 12 team, and as such you would expect him to have a few games like this a year. Hopefully he has several more, getting the taste of success in a big W can only help.
Moving BDJ to the bench has made us a deeper team. Thomas is a sufficient 3rd guy off the bench, but imo he struggled in the first and only guard off the bench.
I compared the only thing you brought up! And you said that % sucked. Yet Hoiberg shot the same 3-pt % his first two seasons. And he dramatically increased that in his final two seasons. Shouldn't those who want to use this stat as a measuring stick for MT give him some room to improve like many of his predecessors? If MT was being asked to shoot twos as Fred was and was given the minutes Fred did, who knows.
 damn winning is fun!
Man oh man some of you selectively read and take some liberties with things said.
ive been praising his effort today in multiple threads, fawning over his aggressive play, great shooting, solid rebounding, etc. I..like MANY others have been rightfully critical and said some things about his body of work that announcers have later on said similar things....
TODAY...he was tremendous and I'm extremely happy for him and hope to god it continues.
I honestly think off the bench without him we are a guy short of making a legitimate final four run. WITH him....like he was today....I think we are difficult to beat. The fact IMO I consider his success that important should tell you I want this kid to be great, we need him to be great.
Absolutely great game today by Thomas.
No, the argument is that someone who shoots 32% his first two years can make a significant leap as an upperclassman.32% isn't a good shooting percentage from 3, are you trying to argue that it is? That wasn't really an opinion.

Not saying that. I'm saying that those who want to rip on MT for his first two years of 3-pt % must also admit that FH's first two years from behind the arc also "sucked." I'll bet many on here didn't know this fact. I think it's an incredibly important point to make as we all know how Fred's career ended up; he's one of the most celebrated 3-pt shooters (players) in ISU history. We obviously haven't seen this all play out yet for Matt, but for God's sake, let's give him an opportunity to show us what he has in store for us in his final two seasons without saying he's a bust! Not saying you've said that but plenty on here have implied that, and they are using his 3-pt % to support this notion.
Fred had the benefit of being asked to shoulder more of the offensive load in the form of 2 point shots as well. MT isn't really asked to do that, in large part because Coach Orr's offense and Coach Hoiberg's offense are not created equally. Moreover, Fred played significantly more minutes, and that makes a big difference to younger players as we all know.
It's not ripping him to say he's struggled for his first two years, it's just the truth. He hasn't shot the ball well., I'm sure he would be the first to admit that too Comparing him to Hoiberg and putting those expectations on Matt isn't going to help. Fred went from 26% as a freshman to 36% as a sophomore, Thomas' percentage has declined from his freshman year. Fred shot really poor as a freshman but 36% doesn't "suck". Going from being a 32% 3 point shooter your first two years to a 45% shooter as a junior is a huge jump and if you're expecting Matt to make that leap next year, well I hope it happens.
