Anyone owned a VW Golf?

I've had a Golf R for a few years now. Love it. The thing is built like a tank. Maintainance costs are high though. If you think of it as getting a luxury car on the cheap, they don't seem as bad. Diesel gate lowered the perceived value of VWs making them pretty good values for what you get.
