Anyone know the SEP score?

Are they another Dowling-like school that gets the best players money can buy? Don't know much about Xavier.
No. They're a pretty down-to-earth program. They've only been good for the last couple of years. Their school got lots of new management in 2004, and ever since then, pretty much every competitive program has been skyrocketing upwards in talent and success. They really aren't particular standouts in the MVC, either. They're usually at the top of the middle-of-the-pack grouping, but not a threat to the top teams. That's usually City High and Cedar Falls, and occasionally West High.

Good job, Saints.

Sad game to watch. Droveup 1 1/2 hrs. sat in 40 min of traffic, ran 1 mile to just see the kickoff, and the horrible game i saw.

I will say, they did not get beat, they beat themselves. When you fumble 3 times, you have taken yourself out of the game.

All i can say though, is SE Polk has done something that no one in school history has done before, and that is something to be greatful for. Runner Up is 1st place in my books. We'll get it next year!

I was rooting for them as well since my wife is a SEP teacher and I know a lot of the back stories but I still have to give them credit for a great season!!

They sure laid an egg last night. Where was their passing game? I was hoping they would comeback when they had the long punt return. Kinda like watching ISU this year - turnovers, defense having to play too much, lack of offense.

SEP had a great season but "they beat themselves?" come on, they were out played, quit making Hawk excuses. Mistakes happen when the game plan isn't working.

I looked at this game and saw ISU vs Kansas this year. You telling me that Kansas outplayed ISU. NO! When a team makes as many mistakes as they do, they have taken themselves out of the game. That's exactly what SE Polk did. They had the long put return, but fumbled. That wasnt the other team outplaying them, it was mental errors on the other team.

I am ashamed to not have seen more of a passing attack, but Xavier won without one. So you dont always have to be balanced to win. It came down to too many mental errors on SE Polk that got them taken out of this game. 14 points for Xavier were off of turnovers. If it wasnt for those, would they have ever scored? Who's to say, but all I know, it would have been a closer game.

Taking the other team out of the game involves outplaying them. Were all of the fumbles just open field dropped balls? Probably not, most fumbles involved a tackle or a swat of the ball in the players arms. Sure, making mistakes isn't helpful to the team, but many times the mistakes are caused by how the other team responds. They were the better team. Not a diss to you, just shows how it is a fan's nature to make excuses when their team loses to make it seem less painful. Call it a psychology lesson, if you will... :rofl8yi:

Oh I agree, they were the better team. I wouldnt agrue that or dismiss it. When you can come in, run, knowing they are going to run, and do it successfully, you are the better team. Their blocking was awesome. Those backs didnt have to break tackles to make yards. They ran where the whole was.

Fumbling wise. I couldnt see them all. The first one by Snead was a mental error. Indeed he got hit, but he definately didnt have the ball secure. That one slipped out of his hands and into the other teams. The second one I didnt have a good angle at it, so I wont comment. But the third was his and then he dropped it. There might have been a defender coming in for a hit, but it looked to me as he was more worried either about the hit, or running afterwards, that he didnt bring the ball in and secure it. Mental error. Those mistakes take you out of the game. Everyone will tell you that.

Of course I am going to root for my home team, so I will give you that. And my thoughts lean that way, but I still stick by what I say. Those mistakes take you out of the game, and make you beat yourself as opposed to letting the team be you.
