I'm a lifelong Kansas Jayhawk fan. The James H. Hilton Coliseum is named after one of my ancestors. I have family that lives in Iowa. Obviously, I only want the best for Iowa State.

“I would say, ‘Hey we were fortunate we got a no-call there,’â€￾ Self said. “It could have easily been a charge. (But) how many times at the end of games do you have no-calls in those situations? “We were fortunate. I will not say we weren’t. It could have easily been called and if it was I couldn’t have complained. On the flip side, there are a lot of calls in a game that you could say, ‘Maybe that could go the other way.’ It was a hard game to call. It’s gotten a lot of national attention. I guess the league office felt they had to make some sort of statement.â€￾

“If we are going to get in the business of publicly making statements off of every bad call, let’s go back to the opening tip,â€￾ Self said, “because there are a lot of times the third foul on a big guy in the first half is the difference between winning and losing or second foul with 15 minutes left if it’s a bad call can be difference between winning and losing. It was a good crew (Mark Whitehead, Tom O’Neill, Bert Smith). I don’t think our bench was ecstatic on the way the game was being called either. I don’t think their bench was. It was a hard game. There were good players making plays.â€￾

Please. Its idiotic to complain about any foul against withey when he probably shouldve been called for at least 10.

I think most Iowa State fans understand that that is usually a no call, but it was clearly a foul.

The problem is that the foul was called on the scramble when the Kansas guy and Georges were tangled up. That was not a foul. And that is why we lost the game.

And that quote from Bill Self is why I hate him.

And for god's sake Withey was called for 6 fouls before he was required to leave. It takes some sort of entitled person to start talking about 1 bad call early in the game. Melvin Ejim got called for a makeup call right after that and Melvin actually had to leave the game after being called for 5 fouls.

This is the issue I have with every KU fan right now. It's not the no-call by itself. It's the ensuing call against Niang for apparently getting the call for being the one under the pile. And to add insult to injury Withey flying in over the back and onto the pile WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN ON THE BENCH FOULED-OUT YET DOESN'T GET CALLED AGAIN! But, sure, it's all equal. Poor KU.

Anyone that believes ISU didn't get hosed in the game Monday night can **** off. It's a fact that it was a complete mess by the officials. It's extremely rare for such a bold statement to come from the Big 12 office which should drive home the fact the refs screwed up big time.

I was livid Monday night. And I'm still very ******* ****** off. ISU did everything they needed to do in order to win. But they can't win playing 8 on 5.

What do you have to say about Young taking Withey's 5th foul for him? That was very poor sportsmanship and classless. In the Big 12 golf tournament do we need to have a scorer follow the KU players to make sure they count all of their strokes and don't roll their ball in the rough?

A little bent that the national media is on to your false victory?

I got the same weak comparison on Withey's third by KU fans in my office in KC. I gave them the same response that he should have had ten. Bottom line was if you aren't going to make a call on the charge, then why make the call on the guy being sat on? It was obvious the ref was afraid of the letting KU lose on a no-call.

sorry but even as a Cyclone fan, I have to disagree with you. Young raising his hand is just smart basketball. Obviously, the refs were idiots for getting it wrong and believing Young, but that is just good awareness from Young

Love that I keep hearing about Witheys foul. First of all, the guy is way bigger than anyone we have so he runs into them it could definitely look like a foul (a lot of this happened with Royce last year). Also, as many have noted, he had many other fouls that weren't called. Throw in the fact that if he didn't get that charge, who isn't to say he doesn't pick up a foul the next possession with the way he was playing?
