Another Marty Tirade...

Marty was decked out in a red shirt and a cyclone hat today. I give the guy credit, he picked our first two games to perfection.

If this would have been I-80 in Iowa City this would either not have been a mentioned or would be a great public service announcement and a show of concern from the Iowa Athletic Dept.

Losers try and change the subject.

Honestly, I had family leaving town right about that time moving to Lincoln. I tried calling but of course couldn't get through. Marty has a point, but a small one, it's not the PA's fault.

I said this earlier and will stick with it.... The PA announcement was a good idea. This prevented an even longer commute home. Prevented more accidents and probably made people thing twice before driving home drunk.

I knew alot of people leaving at that time, I was worried, but at the same time it made me realize that I shouldnt' leave after the game with alcohol still in my system. I found a sober friend to drive to Des Moines.

I hate to base this on Alcohol but I think most people realized the game and tailgating had something to do with it.

Re: JP on Marty and Milller (summary included in the thread)

Did anyone else hear the rant about the announcement during the game "There has been a serious accident..." He said it was over the top, unnecessary, and an exaggeration. There were multiple cars involved! They had to shut down the southbound lanes! People died! I'd call that serious!!!
He couldn't find an excuse for the hawks, so he had to pick on the PA announcer!
Horrible job out of him!!!

The PA Announcer was only doing exactly what the Iowa Highway Patrol asked him to do. In an interview, a highway patrol spokesman was talking about how important it was to them to immediately get word to the authorities at the game. They were the ones that insisted on the announcement.

They were already dealing with the one of worst traffic days of the year before the accident. Then they had to divert a large chuck of their people away from traffic control to the scene of the accident. I wonder what Marty would have done if he were in their shoes?

As much as he found the PA announcement disrespectful and over the top. Does anyone else here feel that his rant, about a serious accident, to jab a few shots at ISU was at the very least, extremely disrespectful? 4 people died and he uses that as a way to jab at ISU and then continue to rant about it during the 20 minutes that I could listen to him. To use a situation like that to stir the pot and get some rants going for his show is about the dumbest, most disrespectful thing I could imagine. It was a serious, serious accident and they didn't want people using the Interstate, what was the PA announcer supposed to say. He had to emphasize it enough to make it known. "Don't take I-80"

The guy is an idiot.
