And your new MBB rival is ...

I would say some killer basketball games over the years show a rivalry with Okie State. Not to mention killing their national championship chances in 2011, and blowing up the BCS system in the process (I know it's football but these things all tie together).

I hope the keep the old Big 8 schools close. This conference won't have a ton of history to throw about; we should preserve what we can.

My thoughts precisely. Didn't want them in the conference, don't want a manufactured "rivalry".

In a 12 team league to play 18 games, you play 7 teams twice and 4 teams once.

I hope this conference isn't dumb enough to keep the four Big 8 teams from each playing each other twice a year.
I'd enjoy preserving the Baylor series as well. We've had good tilts with them over the years, mostly dating back to the Hoiberg and early Prohm years.

Oklahoma St x 2
K-State x 2
KU x 2
Baylor x 2
Tech x 2
WVU x 2

Don't really care beyond that. I know TCU is our Big 12 brethren, but I've never felt any kind of rivalry with them.

This is how it will shake out.

TxT/oSu
K-State-Ku
Baylor/TCU
BYU/ISU
WVU/Cincinnati
UH/UCF
These 4 would make the most sense.

KSU/KU - easy option
OSU/ISU - most alike schools in conference
WVU/Cincy - old Big East rivals
UH/UCF - AAC teams

Then some combination of:

Tech vs TCU or Baylor - old SWC rivals
BYU vs Baylor or TCU - private religious schools

or

Tech vs BYU and Baylor vs TCU- closest proximity (this would be my last choice personally)

1st. I'll go with OSU as the biggest rival. They travel well, probably brought the most visitors of any team this year. And we travel very there. 2nd We've played BU more than any of the other schools in the conference. So like it or not BU is #2. And if you start the rivalry at the point of us being in the same conference, then the win/loss record is almost dead even. #3 We all hate Coug High, well good, they hate us too. The last time we were in a conference together all our hate was focused on UT & Aggie. With those two out of the way I can now muster more hate for UH.
