I think which school can give a player the most money while im school will have some sway on recruiting, at the top at least I think the biggest factor will still be on what college gives players the best chance to make the NFL. Few thousand pales in comparison to the millions that could potentially be gained in the NFL. Just my $0.02

The Miami deal is 500 bucks a month, that's nothing crazy. Most schools have donors that can figure out similar deals. I could see this changing the way donors spend the money, I expect they'll cut out the middle men (the schools) and start putting money directly in players hands through stuff like this.

This sucks. Let's say this NIL was in effect last summer. Breece Hall sees what is going on with other schools that have the backing of local corporations paying more for shoe deals, 10 second ads, etc. Since no penalty for transferring, he transfers to one of these schools for his junior year. Our team loses a couple more games than would have with Hall doing his stud things. Silver lining - one our players has a breakout year for 4th team All American. He transfers too at the end of the year. Rinse and repeat.

It is going to be hard to invest in season tickets, donations, continuing to see players leave. I see Pollard and other ADs spending a lot of time having to recruit local corporations to endorse players. I am sure they are thrilled with this part of their job description.

If Matt is here long term, I'm far less worried.
We just won't, (I believe), as an alumni group, compete with the pay to sign top 20 or 30 schools.

I think you are right on. We are already one of the cheapest donor groups in all of P5. For whatever reason ISU fans and alumni do not donate to athletics as much as other fan bases. That is just a fact.

Haven't seen any comment on the movement of their abilities. If Texas has recruited so well, but their record doesn't accurately reflect it, do their athlete's NIL devalue? Are these NIL contracts structured for incentive? For that matter what if a Montgomery comes around? Does he start shopping for another school with better NIL marketing? I suppose they still need to academically qualify so their grades should still be important to them. But, if they ink a multimillion dollar deal before hitting the field, maybe they wouldn't give a darn about a semester of grades. It's a quagmire.

This has to slow down the facilities arm race right? Rather than donating to facility upgrades that frankly aren’t needed at most of the blue blood schools, athletic directors will tell wealthy donors to divert their divert their donation to paying recruits for their “NIL.”

Yeah this is actually my expectation, places like Texas and Clemson have absolutely ridiculous facilities that they don't need now. So that money will be diverted to the athletes.

The Supreme Court just poured gas all over the tinder pile known as college sports ... and issued matches to every student athlete. It only took one or two matches to burn the whole thing down. Enjoy the view over the next couple of years ... this isn't about selling t-shirts..it is about hard cash corrupting recruiting and changing the focus from education of student athletes to turning bucks.
