And from the "I've heard this before" rumor mill ...

If we're going to add the Arizona schools we better dump WV (because geography) and Baylor (because **** Baylor) and stay at a ten team conference.
I've grown to like having West Virginia. One of the few schools who's fans actually give a s*** about football and basketball. Baylor needs to go, though. I'd rather get rid of TCU or Texas Tech and keep WV and keep the conference from growing even further south. That's probably not realistic though.

Since I live in Phoenix this would be amazing, although I have heard nothing out here about it. In my opinion if this had any actual steam it would be something those of us in Arizona would have heard about.

Not believable. Can’t imagine a pair of rival in-state schools coordinating conference membership together.

Consider the source (Swaim) on this. He has previously thrown out a lot of realignment garbage with little to no merit.

That said, there is a lot of turmoil in the P12 with Larry Scott inexplicably still in charge and the two AZ schools will do little to mask that turmoil, including potentially leaking rumors about exiting the P12 in order to help get rid of Scott. The odds of them actually leaving are near zero.

This sounds right. The fact is the time of bigger conferences and larger footprints is dead with the rise of cord cutting. The paradigm has changed.

I agree with all of your post but being the northern-most outlier we shouldn't beat the geography drum too hard.
Ames to Lawrence: 268 miles
Ames to Manhattan: 349 miles
Ames to Stillwater: 548 miles

Morgantown to Lawrence: 900 miles
Morgantown to Manhattan: 996 miles
Morgantown to Stillwater: 1084 miles

We're north but we're not the outlier. Which logo looks the most out of place geographically here?

This is overplayed. Everything went out the window with the last couple rounds of conference realignment.

We should just be the I-35 Conference already.
