Amazon Prime

I use it a lot, not only for our family but to send gifts to family members. I also split my membership and family chips in, so it costs less than $99.

If you area good planner (I am). The $49 threshold and 7-10 day shipping is an absolute non issue. Just gotta stay ahead of the curve so urgency of receipt isn't a big deal.

Uhh, some of us prefer to not have a complex algorithm in our heads of what to order and when so that it arrives on time...and again, stop focusing just on the free shipment, that's only one perk of prime. It seems like you're trying very hard to justify not having it.

If you don't want it, that's fine, but it's a good service for some.

they have decent movies and tv...very similar to netflix. It's worth it for me too and I don't buy a lot of stuff there either.

This is correct. I don't think I would ever get it for the delivery, but that is a nice bonus. It is worth it just for the TV and movies, especially if you wait for a deal. I got mine for $69 I think.

I am starting to like Amazon Video more than Netflix.

Amazon Video has four times as many movies as Netflix, and even better, it has some great TV shows that aren't on Netflix like The Wire, The Americans, and Veep.

The BBC series are also pretty good in Prime. But I still don't think the video service alone is worth the cost. I use the shipping benefits a lot, but if you don't I could see the feeling it is not worth the cost.

And it also has some originals. I really enjoyed Mozart in the Jungle.

We bit on the new buttons they have. We have the detergent one sitting next to our washer and have a couple of others floating around the house. It's goofy but kind of a fun concept. There is a button for Trojan condoms you can get. That would be a lot of use age to make that one worth it.

You save a lot of money going bareback. Sure, you end up with 8 kids you don't want, but you're saving on condoms.

Did you order a rare kangaroo from the outback that they had to track down and kill first?

It's a Wisconsin thing, the delivery drivers are all drunk and eating Barbecue...which is really not barbecue, it's sloppy joes that they call barbecue...so they can't deliver **** on time.

Amazon Video will become available as a standalone video service to non-Prime members on Monday for $9 a month.

If they promote this hard enough I could see them either taking a bite out of Netflix's market share or (more likely) pushing Netflix to add quality non-exclusive content. Netflix seems to have been very focused on its in-house content instead of adding the hottest new movies and TV shows from third parties, but with competition that could change soon.

We haven't taken advantage of the streaming media as much but are starting to get into that more and probably will quite a bit once our kid starts to get more into watching movies. She just turned 2 and thankfully isn't that interested in TV yet but we know that time is coming soon. If you have infants or toddlers your Prime subscription is well worth it because they have great deals on diapers and having it shipped right to your door in 2 days saves some trips to the store. I think with our next kid I will do the subscription option where it just orders and sends you a box of diapers at an interval you choose and is an even better price.

Prime is well worth it if you use Amazon to shop often, the shipping you'd pay without a subscription is worth it if you use it regularly and I think with the streaming media it definitely is going to pay for itself if you use that as it's kind of a "Netflix Light"

I'm an Amazon guy and was thinking about getting rid of Netflix because I just don't use it. I went over to Netflix the other night to see what they had and there's about nothing. I'd rather spend $5 twice a month to rent new releases or $15 to buy a movie than have access to a couple exclusives form Netflix that are mediocre.

Yeah, if you don't have a life and know exactly when you'll need a 20 pack of G2s because you had nothing better to do than plan out exactly when you would need them, I can see not needing it. We all can only strive for that exciting of a life.
