Amazon Prime vs Netflix

I don't really know much about the Amazon plan. What I like about Netflix right now (and that is shrinking a bit every day) is that it's available on all my game systems. The Wii is in a different room than the PS3 and I put the 360 in a different room from that. So, it allows us a little more flexibility at home as to where the kids can watch a show on just about any TV in our house.

Prime is cheaper (especially for students) and gives you the benefit of free two day shipping on everything. However, the interface sucks.

I personally dropped Netflix for Amazon Prime, but I mainly just stream the occasional show or movie on my laptop when I am stuck on a hotel for work. Have preorderded a Kindle Fire and plan on watching stuff on that starting in a few weeks.

Which is better and why? Thanks!
The video selection is not there yet for Amazon but it is getting better. For me, however, getting free shipping for everything you buy plus an improving selection of streaming content for $79/year is unbeatable.

I used Netflix streaming mostly for TV and documentaries anyway and Amazon has most of that stuff, so for me Amazon is the way to go. For others, not so much.

The biggest advantage for netflix is the number of devices that have it available. Some advantage in the library too, but both pretty much suck in terms of getting much new stuff on there.

You can also use Roku (standard or HD) on any TV to get Netflix.

Amazon prime is up to about 6,000 titles while Netflix has a lot more.:spinny:

Amazon is adding more every day.

However, STARZ is gone from streaming Netflix 1 Jan 12 since they were streaming too much for the associated studios.

Netflix uses one third of the internet bandwidth.

Netflix just signed a deal with ABC/Disney for releasing new shows 30 days after they ended their seasons, which isnt that bad. They also signed a recent deal with Dreamworks. Its very possibly they will be ramping up here shortly if everyone plays nice.

If netflix wasn't already built into my TV I'd probably be more open to trying another service. I wouldn't be quick to write Netfilx off though. I think finally having some competition is going to force them to up their game as far as streaming content goes.

To be fair, Amazon also just signed a deal with ABC/Disney.
