Glad you discovered John Butler's dramatic dexterity!

Those aren't glue-on nails picking out that incredible tune! I discovered Butler a while ago and that "Ocean" video has been one I've been sending to people for over a year.

Ocean wasn't availble off music down loading sites last time I checked.
My brother just showed me the "Zebra" video today and i was quite amazed.

John Butler is pretty amazing. I've seen him & two iterations of his trio live many times & he always puts on a fantastic live show. If you get a chance you should go see them live, you won't be disappointed. They'll be playing at the Simon Estes Amphitheater on June 9th with shows in Minneapolis & Chicago following.

JBT is amazing & even though their studio albums aren't bad, if you can find his live stuff somewhere, it is definitely worth picking up - just phenomenal! Better yet, try catching him in concert (although you may have to be very patient & willing to travel a ways to see him). There are a few 11 to 13 minute versions of Ocean online that would definitely be worth the download!

Live @ St. Gallen is available at Amazon (Double Disc w/Bonus DVD from Sydney Opera House) but it's pricey.

A very socially aware & active musician, too!

JBT is the bomb. Glad you Found them. Ya they will be at Simon Estes on June 9th and just came out with a new album.

Good stuff for sure.

Nice work. JBT amaze me. You should definitely go June 9 at Simon Estes.

Had the chance to see them at Red Rocks in '05 and they blew me away that night. Such a wonderful place to watch a band like that.

Did that happen to be them opening for DMB? We were at that show in 5th row. Good times for sure.

That was nice. Anyone know why he uses 11 strings instead of 12? I don't think I've seen that before.

I've always wondered that too and just found this off his Wikipedia entry....

John is able to play harmonica, didgeridoo, drums and chooses amplified acoustic instruments such as the 12-string (although he removes the higher octave G string due to personal preferences he learned from his guitar teacher Ori Rossi)[14], lapsteel and banjo (in his recent productions).

If people reading this thread are new to JBT & intrigued by what they hear I'd highly, highly recommend checking out their album Three. There are some absolutely fantastic tracks off that album that are worth checking out like Take, Pickapart, and Betterman.
