All FB coaching rumors and speculation

I've lived in both states. Texas gets paid.

Lincoln gets USC to buy both of his homes in Oklahoma for $500,000 over value (each), 24/7 use of the private jet, a new home purchased for him in California on top of a 8 figure salary

And we're wondering about taxes? I guess he can't have USC wear all black, but I'd give up that control for an ocean view and perfect weather

Didn't know much about him until now, he's flying through the coaching ranks.
His big knock as others have pointed out is his lack of experience. Only 1 year of DC too(at ND). A few months ago ND pretty much said he was the coach in waiting. Of course I think they still thought they had few years for that to happen though. I think the AD is paying attention to what is happening to OU and may lean to trying to keep everything together. Freeman offers the best chance for the shortest step back.

What Jamie isn't saying in that quote is the people taking these big name jobs are making 10 million dollars a year now, which is going to pay more than the 4.5-5 Matt is making now regardless of the tax discrepancies.

And what he is saying, besides the BS of it, is the kind of pressure play sales pitch that comes from folks you shouldn't be trusting for important decisions.

Only on CF can you open a topic covering coachings changes and get a lesson on the Tax codes of Texas and California. Just facsinating.

Anyway if anyone interested, a buddy of mine who is a farely big ND doner telling me he hears it will be Freeman, not interim but full time.

Have we ever had a year of this many big time openings? I get the sense if we survive this keeps us safe multiple years

Yes, it is very true. However, if you are just living in CA and not actually earning a living there, the tax burden probably isn't that bad.

Elon Musk was pretty clear that CA was stifling his business, which is why he moved Tesla HQ to Texas and opened his new factory there, along with Toyota, HP, Oracle, Kubota, Charles Schwab, etc.

we’ll let me tell you about Texas because I’m sure you know nothing about it since you live there.

That’s what we’re doing right?

Exactly. The salary is so high that they can pay the tax and have more than the ISU salary if you got that completely tax free. Essentially it is the difference in state tax. Federal tax should be the same.

They did manage to secede from Mexico.

Texas history is awesome. It's so much more interesting than the history we have in the Upper Midwest (some Chicago history excepted).

Sort of, but there are issues as to whether Santa Ana represented the Mexican government or had been deposed by then.
In either case, it's fun to read how Texas begged to be part of the U.S. after their persistent lies to Mexico about religion and slavery, only to find out that we didn't want them at all.

ND probably can probably draw on some people surrounding their program to mentor him, to help offset his lack of HC experience.

Yeah you gotta love how so many are “experts” about places they’ve never been to and love educating others about their own states or cities.

Obviously, I live here, and have for several years. I love it. But citing Elon musk was pretty bad

and there may be no State income tax, but my property taxes make up for that
