Alex Mackall Transferring to ISU

I see that he's competed at 133 this season, but maybe that was just him bumping up to try to find a spot in the lineup (since Suriano took the 125 spot at Rutgers this year). It would be hard to make 125 all season knowing that you aren't going to crack the lineup.
Hopefully he can come in, get down to 125, and get in the lineup next year. Would be an obvious upgrade, to say the least.
Hell, even at 133 he would be another guy to potentially be varsity, and at the very least provide depth and another guy to work with in the room.
Good pickup either way, but does anyone know if he will be eligible in November next year, or not until second semester?

I feel like I know the answer, but Mackall is a better "get" than either of the Portillo brothers, right?
A coach said at the social that he weighs around 136 and intended to be at 125
I don't know how he did at Rutgers, but based on recruiting rankings, yes.
So, class of '15 and assuming he had a redshirt in there, is he a 3 to play 3 guy?
Man, next years lineup looks so much better than this years. If only ISU could get a 197 transfer. Ellsworth has the defending 197 champ.

If Carr (should be) and Shapiro (good chance) are good enough to go next year, our lineup looks so much better..

I won't be surprised to see both redshirt but Carr is elite of the elites..and Shapiro is very highly rated (I personally think he is underrated by some publications because he doesn't wrestle a ton of national tourneys) - I think Carr definitely could be an AA next year and I think Shapiro could win some matches too

He is very strong. Really short. I love his style and think he is a perfect match with this staff.

I agree they will probably redshirt..but there are a TON of true freshman competing the past few years..not always the worst thing..sometimes the elite kids have better results as underclassman because they don't have the 4-5 years of wear and tear that a D1 college wrestling room puts on you..these kids come so much more ready for college than even 10 years ago..plus you have a redshirt year in your pocket to use.. (See Bryce Steiert at UNI)
Danny Bush would start over Sherry at 184. If we are trending in the right direction, Sherry won't ever sniff the lineup.
That is a solid dual team. It looks like 7-8 top 20 wrestlers, but not a lot (or any) top 5 guys unless Carr/Gomez are that good out of the gates. Probably another year until the team is scoring many points at nationals.
If Carr is ready to be an AA, why redshirt?
