Nope. Collapsed lung and a non lethal heart attack but didn’t die. Point is **** didn’t get as much as a fine for illegal hunting (didn’t have the proper stamp) for that very reckless handling of a firearm.
so just because one criminal gets away with it, you think everyone else should too?
Didn’t call either of them criminals or suggest they should get away with anything. They both appear to be tragic accidents and if proven negligent should be held accountable.
It does seem like there is some political motivation behind the push for criminal charges here. Actors are not responsible for doing safety checks on props used on movie sets ever. They have professionals for every scene and stunt imaginable to ensure the safety of everyone on set and in this case they appear to have failed horribly at doing that.
It’s just tough for me to call something an accident when he literally pointed the gun directly at her and pulled the trigger.
At least hit the trigger a few times with the gun pointed to the sky to make sure it’s not loaded. Seems like any normal human being Would do that first.
Pretty sure blanks and dummy rounds sound similar to live rounds so I’m not sure what that would accomplish.
I don’t think you’re getting that the scene they were shooting required him to point the gun at the camera and pull the trigger, at least that’s my understanding of it.
Yeah nobody handed Cheney a gun and told him it was a prop or it wasn’t live, the whole point was that he had a live gun. He was shooting caged birds with his friend and shot his friend in the face. Then the actual weirdest part starts when his friend apologizes and thanks Cheney for shooting him in the face. One of the most bizarre stories ever.
A legitimate opinion on it from someone in the industry, in this profession, with the knowledge behind how it all works at that level:
A blank goes "bang".....a dummy goes "click".
There is no projectile in a blank, and no powder in a dummy.
Neither have recoil hence the difference between both compared to a live round is considerable and would have definitely been noticed had there been a few practice shots.
K. Still not something any actor should have to do on set with the safety protocols already in place. Live ammo is never supposed to be anywhere near it so whoever brought that should be held responsible.
A few things to consider:
Alec was also the producer, so the boss of the armorer. He hired her and was responsible for the activities that were happening on the set. Like shooting live ammo during off hours.
Alec, pulled the trigger. He continues to lie that he didnt but there have been a lot of tests to show that the only way that the gun could fire is if he pulled the trigger.
The overall circumstances of the how this happened put the most responsibility of what happened on Alec. If I remember they were not even filming at the time he was practicing the scene. If someone is going to be held responsible, it is overall his fault.
This is pretty much the definition of involuntary manslaughter, and yes I believe there are more people on that set that are guilty of some crime or another, including the armorer.
As an absolute gun hater, and absolute pompous jerk, it could not be more poetic that this happened to him. All these Actors that hate guns all jump at the chance to make money off using them in their movies, and glorifying them. Maybe if he and others actually took 2 minutes to learn about guns and their function, instead of just blindly using them while cashing a check this may not have happened. Hell the way it sounds he hired an armorer that had very little knowledge on the subject as well and was way over her head.
