Hey Cyclones! I enjoyed tailgating with you all and visiting Ames last weekend. You all should be really excited about Warren's future at ISU. I don't want to wade into your debate about the future and coaching and all, but if TCU and Baylor have proved anything, it's that a 10-team Big 12 gives everyone (except maybe Kansas) an opportunity to win a title. Good luck going forward! You have the fans and facilities to take the next step (and Frog fans will be pulling for you in Waco this Saturday!).

Now, I'm sure you all know about your ISU honorary team captain from last week--Abby Faber. A Frog fan with some connections up in Iowa was able to get in touch with some friends of Abby's family, and they are trying to get something positive going out of all the media coverage she's received in the past few days after her interaction with Trevone Boykin on the field.

Anyways, a "You Caring" campaign (like a GoFundMe site) was set up for Abby and her family to help cover all sorts of medical, rehab and future surgical expenses that aren't covered by health insurance. The link was posted over in KillerFrogs this afternoon with an initial goal of $2,000. That was broken in just a few hours, and the organizers have raised the goal to $5,000. I just wanted to pop over and invite anyone who can and wishes to pitch in to do so. Here's the link:

I've always liked TCU, even before they joined the Big 12. I've heard stories from people who have gone down there for games and talked about what a nice fan base it is, but this is incredible. What a class act fan base. Well done TCU. Will definitely be rooting for you and Boykin the rest of the way.

Unbelievable. The amount of class that has poured out of Forth Worth this past week is incredible. So awesome. Go Horned Frogs and Go Cyclones! A lot of us will be rooting for you guys down the stretch.

Anyone know what the TCU message board is? Wouldn't mind popping over to say thanks on behalf of ISU fans. Really haven't met a TCU fan I haven't liked yet. Classy move.

Pretty awesome. I will be rooting for TCU going forward like it was my Clones and hope they can run the table.

Very, very impressive. Hope the Frogs win it all this year.

It's hard to believe that there isn't an underlying reason for positive press revolving around the Heisman for this.

While you can't deny the financial windfall, the intentions leave a bit of a sour taste.

Quick update:
Aided by Cyclone fans, they've now raised over $6,600 in less than 24 hours. A simple retweet/reply by TCU AD Chris Del Conte, a brief news blurb on the Dallas Morning News and a recent tweet for the Iowa St SB Nation blog have helped spread the word very quickly. The goal has been raised again, this time to $10,000. Thanks to all of you for your support in this effort!

The most active, and the one where the fundraising campaign originated, is killerfrogs.com (as always with message boards, read at your own risk–this one is large/active but doesn't really do anything to control trolls and crazy internet people).

I struggled with this sentiment for several days as well. It's hard not to see any positive press as anything other than Heisman-promoting. But in a world where the likes of Manziel and Winston embarrass themselves and college football, I know we all want to hope that some 20-something-year-old football stars can be genuinely good people. Anyway, even if I'm uncertain of the motivation, I've come to terms with it being better that something like this for Abby Faber come from it than just some empty press about a football player.
