Aaron Rodgers

Minus the Multiple championships, Rogers is a lot like Michael Jordan. Absolutely one of the best to ever do it, so overly competitive that he is actually unlikeable unless you are a Packers fan/Bulls fan. I love Rodgers. However, he is a jerk in public life. Maybe in private he is a nice guy. Who knows. I think he plays one more season at Green Bay and they trade him.

Yeah, 5 less rings. I'm just one Super Bowl win behind Rodgers in that race.

And in all of that mess was there ANY real attempt at improving the roster?

How would you like Gutenkunst to improve the roster when Aaron Rodgers won't give any discount. Davante Adams needs an extension. Jaire Alexander needs an extension & many others. Because of Rodgers, there is no money to give to anyone. He's not taking a discount like Tom Brady to win rings.

That's what I mean.

In all that, from both sides, if Rodgers plays, you end up exactly where you were.

Gute could have cleared up cap space this year by converting his roster bonus into a signing bonus. That's a common way to free up cap room. And Aaron had a large roster bonus this year, around 7 million.

But Packers management didn't want to do that because it would make it more difficult to cut/trade him after this season, and that's the plan.

So, there was wiggle room to get more cap space to resign guys or bring in free agents, but that's not what the Packers wanted to do. It's that simple. That doesn't make it wrong. Teams have to make decisions on their future, but they had options, and they're choosing the path that they're on. I totally get Rodgers not being on board with that. He can see what's coming as well as anyone else.

This will be his final year in GB. His only chance of staying longer means getting rid of Love, which is not happening.

Figured this is how the agreement would end up. Aaron plays this year, Green Bay trades him after the season:

of course he's playing in Green Bay this season. All anyone had to to was look at his cap hit this year and know that.

The cap hit next year will be pretty large as well but it's at least doable.

Kinda tired of the Karen Rodgers soap opera. Wondering if he is worth a first round fantasy pick this year. I pick sixth so, have to wait and see.

GB taking a huge risk by not trading away Aaron this summer. Obviously he will be elsewhere next year. By waiting 1 year, you have less trade leverage and the biggest risk: a season ending injury.
